Honestly i just don't know how you can take a 2-0 lead and 3-1 lead in game 3 and stop working next 176 minutes...

When you see Matthews who suppose to be leafs most difficult player to play against in 1v1 battle losi g every f***ing battle and forcing play over and over again when he just need to work harder

Marner trying for force play over and over again and should attack the net much more

Nylander just come back to his old version and completly stop playing when hes in the defensive zone... He had been great in game for because he was playing a complete 200 game and got the puck much more but je just

That should be leafs 3 best playoff but since period 2 of game 3, they are the 3 worst player of both team...

They learned f***all of their past failure, they judt accepted to lost

Everyone is waiting or someone else to do something. I always get the impression leafs are waiting for something to happen. Most likely a PP or something

It's amazing how you go from the first 2 games to the last 2 games which are night and day difference. It's the same teams

That first goal was all Auston Matthews. He had the puck on his stick, makes a lazy play
Third or 4th goal, all Marner, has the puck on his stick, spinarama

Not only they are not contributing offensively, they are total defensively liabilty

I forgot that JT was even playing last night. He's essentially a faceoff speciliast at this point

Nylander. If he's not scoring, hes' doing anything else

Matthres/Marner had been trash for sure. Just waiting for easy scoring chance off the rush unstead of working harder and keep thing simple. They doing exactly everything they should avoid...

It's simple, if you think you can win by being outworked... You learned nothing...

Even gm 3 in OT, you're 1 goal away to throw stanley cup champion down 3-0 and see guy like Nylander who didn't show up and didn't engaged at all... So EVERY SHIFT he had been on the ice, Leafs played the entire shift in their own zone just defending at 4 pretty close than if they was in penalty kill and how that game endend? The Nylander line stick in their own zone for a long time with Florida controllong the play like they wanted.

I just don't understand how they still can thing they gonna win only with their skill anymore

Does anyone think we still have a shot at winning the series? What about tame 6?

Theoretically we're still in it, oddsmakers have Florida at -780 or something to win the series (I thought it's be higher), they also give us about a ~30% chance of winning game 6.

By the sportsbooks, Florida has been the favourite in every game.

* every game this series

Can't wait for the series to be over. Matthews and Marner being tied to the hip given their failures is embarrassing and everyone that tied them to the hip that is still here after the Montreal season should be fired.

Year after year it's these two always playing together and doing nothing. Nobody wants to go away from it because putting them together is the crutch move you do when you're in trouble. Berube should have came in and made it clear that them playing together will be the oddity, not the norm. If Matthews wants to bitch and cry that he wants to only play with Marner you tell him to STFU and score some f***ing goal in the playoffs.

Now we're back to both these clowns getting shutdown in the playoffs (like clockwork) and we can't go to anything different because Berube "didn't like what he saw when they were apart". What Berube? You didn't like what you saw in the 7 seconds that they weren't glued to the hip? Well I don't like what I've seen in the 6/7 YEARS with these guys together. But hey he's the NHL coach and I'm just a lowly watcher, 7 years of seeing this group implode, what do I know.

Babcock was a dick, but he knew what he was doing keeping these two toxic players away from each other.

The idea and logic was sound. The methods used were stupid.

It is 'at the hip', not 'to the hip'.

This is bullshit.

WE need to stop giving MLSE money... Maybe if this was a BYOB 15 bucks would be worth it.
While I wouldn't be caught dead anywhere near this event myself, I'm pretty sure all proceeds go to the charitable foundation, not the business.

If this was a close loss I could understand thinking we have a chance, but why would anyone have any faith in this team with those two money-grubbing stiffs leading this team.

Postseason player reviews. Somewhat weighted towards salary/expectations and heavily weighted towards the importance of the games.

Benoit: A. He is a warrior who's never had anything handed to him. Plays each game like it could be his last. A hero on two key OT goals. Impossible not to like the guy. Cheap.
Knies: B+. I love the guy as much as anyone. I'm not sure he's our future captain and I'm not sure he's a real superstar. But the promise is there. Love his size, speed, and effort.
Nylander: B. Gotta love 15 points but there's a reason he's still -1. Nonetheless, he came through for us in key moments when we needed him. Contract will age poorly, but it hasn't yet.
Tanev: B. Was well on his way to an A but three shaky games have dogged him, he unfortunately may be breaking down. But an absolute culture setter.
Pacioretty: B. For a PTO player, how can you complain about what he has done? For a brief time in games that feel like months ago, he made beautiful music with Tavares and Nylander, and he plays a heavy game.
Stolarz: B. Absolutely nothing wrong with his regular season., Playoffs he was "good enough" but not really a game stealer. Getting injured hurts. Losing a goalie isn't the same as losing a forward or D - it hurts. Staying healthy is so important.
McCabe: B-. Performed adequately most of the time.
OEL: B-. Really was wrong about him, thought he was washed up, but he's a strong 3rd pairing PMD and way more physical and tough than I ever realized. Came up with big goals for us too.
Kampf: C+. In just one game I was sold. The guy looks like he's 14 but he has guts. And he really cared tonight and was making things happen.
Tavares: C+. Hate the contract. The player is pretty good. I don't think he could drive even a 2nd line but he makes it work with Nylander doing the heavy lifting and he can score on the PP.
Laughton: C. Could end up being a culture setting player for us. His results have really been a mixed bag but the effort is always there and he fights back when no one else does.
Lorentz: C. For a PTO player making minimum you can't complain about how he's performed.
Carlo: C. Started off really strong but has tailed off. Likely to thrive in a Berube system going forward, whatever it looks like otherwise.
Domi: C-. It's a real mixed bag for him. Key offensive plays. Grit and pushback. Bad defense. Stupid penalties.
Woll: D+. Was good for most of the season. Can't fault him for game 1. Could've been better in game 2. Game 3 was on him more than anyone else and game 4 was too little too late. Unfortunately game 3 is all we're gonna remember.
Rielly: D+. Talk about an ugly contract. He seems to score big playoff goals for us regularly but I wonder how we'd look if he wasn't playing such ghastly defense almost all the time.
Robertson: D+. Not built for playoffs. A lot of us thought we'd seen the last of him after his performance in the first 2 games. Takes bad penalties. His secondary offense is replaceable.
Holmberg: D+. Just zero offensive ability even if the effort is there and he showed signs of pushback a while back.
McMann: D. Has no idea how to find that extra gear. Seemed like the same fast skating, big, physical guy he's always been but was completely neutralized. One expected guys like Holmberg and Jarnkrok to be neutralized but he seemed like he could be an emerging Pacioretty style guy who had the jam to break through playoff defenses. A major disappointment.
Jarnkrok: D-. His injury broke him permanently I think. He's just another Holmberg now, after a decade of being a pretty above average NHL forward.
Marner: F. Can't be rid of this motherf***er fast enough. The only reason he's listed ahead of Matthews is because he at least has a motor and can carry the puck and give the impression that he might make something happen.
Matthews: F-. Makes nothing happen. Plays go to his stick to die. Absolutely worthless captain and the biggest fraud to ever cast his stink upon this team. Be gone.
Excellent assessment. I agree with virtually every single one, especially those two dogs with the F's.

At least the Swiss are showing up at the Worlds (so far). They won't leaf in this game, will they? 🤔

I just had the leafiest dream last night. It was game 6 in Florida, Florida slowly strangled the leafs all game, as they are known to do. They slowly built up a lead that had become 9-0 after 54 minutes of play... And then the leafs turned it on. In just four minutes they pumped in six goals to make the Panthers sweat. But I was never fooled and I never got to excited. The Panthers simply went back into shut down mode and closed out the series over the final two minutes, taking a nine to six win. Matthews was given first star for his hat trick. I was, understandably, disgusted.

I never felt so good about a Leafs team after Game 2. The way we came out with jam, met their physicality and played with such structure and poise. To sit here today is kind of stunning, but then when you consider this is the Leafs, sadly not so much.
