Wrong again.

"From what I've seen" clearly has a different meaning to you than it does to me.

I've seen him lose one fight, actually, I forgot about the Tkachuk fight, he probably lost that too, so we are up to two now.

He lost the fight before that too.

I just watched that fight, and I am not even sure he lost that fight, but sure, we can say he lost that too.

He's up to three in his career.

Bennett as a fighter is extremely overrated, he's a spot picking clown. Let me know how many legit tough guys he's ever fought. I'll wait.
Benoit has fought Deslauriers, Olivier and Gudbranson. Bennett would turtle against those guys.

Benoit getting beat up is not an accomplishment.

Benoit can be tough and a terrible fighter, I appreciate that he will jump in and fight guys, but he loses against anyone who is half-decent at fighting, he is the Austin Watson of D.

Since coming to Toronto, Benoit has fought 7 times, he is 2-5.

His losses: Olivier, Kesserling, Deslauriers, Englund, and Gudbrandson.
His wins: Horvat and Bjorkstrand.

Tough guy, not a great fighter.

I don't like Bennett, but he's fought some big guys, and he usually does well.

He jumped Domi last time, I don't think he will fare so well in the rematch if there is one and Knies outweighs Bennet by 35 lbs, big bad Sam might bite off more than he can chew if he decides to get too frisky.

Sure, we can say he jumped him, I also don't think Domi is the best fighter and that fight likely goes the same way if they fight again, but who knows.

Simmonds was outweighed in every fight and he was able to hold his own or win almost all of them (another player who I can't recall losing much), weight is not everything, technique exists, and Knies may turn into a better fighter, but no need for him to turn into one, and also, not sure testing Bennett at this stage is wise for him.

Bennett has beat Manson, Trouba, Nurse, and Sergachev, it isn't like he only beats guys smaller than him.

Domi is also bigger than him according to their listed stats, just FYI.

Anyway, Knies is a big boy, if they fight, fine, just don't understand your reasoning behind wanting Knies to fight Bennett, he isn't Whitecloud.

It's the playoffs. There aren't going to be any fights.

Knies is too big and strong for Bennett. Knies should go after Bennett and feed him lefts and dominate him. Have Domi go after Marchand after the first cheap shot he gives to one of his Leafs teammates. Send a message early in the series that they’re not going to get pushed around. Every Leaf has to be involved in every scrum not fighting necessarily but at least paired up. No standing back and watching like Marner, Matthews and Nylander usually do. Play fearlessly and make the Panthers play hockey.

If the Leafs do not defeat Florida there will be major changes next likely starting with Shanahan for 10 dead years.
What if they’re actually competitive throughout the series? What if the core plays fearless, as was suggested a few posts above by @Ports?

Do you still make major changes, other than Shanahan?

Yes.

He's a great talker with stakeholders but he can only do so much if there isn't results tbh.
They meet expectations and still make major changes? What are major changes other than Marner walking?
Do you try to unload Matthews? Nylander?

I think that depends on how the series goes. If the Panthers walk all over the leafs yes. But if it’s a 7 game series decided by one goal, I don’t think they’ll change anything.

These playoffs are a great opportunity, and likely the last , for the core (Marner in particular) to prove their worth. I don’t know how much importance winning the series has over performing well in determine what they do going forward.

I agree 100%. It's perhaps hard to say that with a 1-8 playoff record but still, all I ask is that the team plays well, as well as they can or at least close to it. If they do that, they will be hard to beat but if Florida manages to do it, so be it. It can't be like 2023 though when they played like garbage in game 3, they need to show up and fight hard every game.
