You're right. He should just retire now because of an injury-plagued Draft +1.

This is toxic fandom at its worst right here. It cant just be that he had a dissapointing season, and we are all pulling for a much better Draft +2. We need to argue over whether it was the "WORST IN THE LAST 25 YEARS!!!!!"

Spot on.

While I wasn't a big fan of the JOB pick, when you look at his D+1 season you have to take the injuries into account. Not an excuse, just reality.

I'll be pulling for him to have a bounce-back year.

At least Ouellet played 12 NHL games. Find me someone who played an NHL game with a worse draft+1 season than JOB.

I like those challenges. Went to 2012 cause bad draft, looked at HS draftees. Check Mackenzie MacEachern. Not exactly stellar D+1 21 in 50 in USHL and D+2 12 in 36 NCAA. 26 in 35 games D+3. Then 2 lousy AHL years. Played 29 games NHL this season.

Slightly better numbers than JOB sure but i hope you get my point. With a little more digging 100% sure i'd find worse than JOB. Different paths my friend, some more sinuous.

With Myers/Morin still being a rookie in the eyes of the NHL, should they not still be considered prospects for our pool?

You are probably right that they should be on there. I will do a poll about it...

Last year Frost beat Myers for #1. Poor old JOB is gonna take a big tumble.

1. Frost, Morgan - 84%
2. Myers, Phil - 79%
3. Farabee, Joel - 85%
4. O'Brien, Jay - 42%
5. Allison, Wade - 42%
6. Ratcliffe, Isaac - 59%
7. Morin, Sam - 39%
8. Rubtsov, German - 47%
9. Vorobyev, Mikhail - 84%
10. Laczynski, Tanner - 49%
11. Aube-Kubel, Nicolas - 66%

This is the problem with JOB going to the BCHL , we have no context for evaluating him. Basically Bozak is the only overager in the BCHL that has had recent nhl success.

IF job gets 2.0 ppg it literally means nothing. If he doesn't it means bust. He can only fail at this level. Whoever is advising him has f***ed up from the get go. First going to providence was a huge mistake and now this? What he is about to do has never been done before.

The main thing JOB needs is to play hockey. It very well could be that a 58-game regular season + playoffs getting first-line minutes will do him more good than a 42-game college season getting third-line minutes.

I'm sure he'd still be in college if he was allowed to transfer to another school without sitting a year. But for whatever reason it didn't work out between him and the Providence staff, and remaining there wasn't an option.

I don't know about that. Obviously you prefer him to play in the NCAA but I don't think he can only fail. If he doesn't do what we want him to do in the BCHL, it isn't because he is in the BCHL, it is because of his abilities. Think about it. If he stayed at Providence and has a bad year, is that any different than going to the BCHL and having a bad year? Where he is playing doesn't matter.

It's too bad about O'Brien. I wasn't aware of him being suspended for off-ice issues. I met him at the draft last year and he seemed like a nice kid. My nephew (Jake Kucharski, G drafted by Carolina last year) was looking forward to playing with him at Providence this year. I hope everything works out well for him.

I think this is the first time we've been told about a suspension.

Yeah, I was over at my sister's a couple weeks ago for dinner and my nephew said that JOB was leaving Providence to play in the BCHL this season. He didn't mention that O'Brien was suspended. Maybe he didn't know. I'll try to find out if he knows what he was suspended for.

2 goals, 3 assists, and did something so bad that he got suspended and is changing programs.

Nice one Hexy!

Hard to believe nobody has hired him yet.

I didn't even realize this was an option. Definitely a good move and makes me a little more confident since BU is a good program.
A big worry is signing him. He is a free agent if he spends two years at BU.

Maybe it’s not that big of a worry. Fletcher often signed kids at Minnesota and played them in a NHL game to burn a year off their contract even if the team was competing for a playoff spot. I guess the first test will be Allison and Laczynski this spring.

That's the same for any college player though (or really any drafted player that doesn't sign immediately). Ghost played out his career at Union. I imagine if he plays well in the BCHL and then at BU the Flyers will push hard to sign him.

Ghost signed after his junior year I thought.

I honestly don't remember, but whenever it gets close to rights expiring everyone gets worried. I think the same thing happened with JvR when he went back his sophomore season, the sky was falling because he didn't sign and it meant he didn't want to come here, etc. Certainly a possibility, but I would think a lot would have to happen for him to prefer free agency to signing here.

Not a free agent till he finishes his fourth year in college - 8/15/2023.

I wonder what the suspension exactly was for. I'll guess it was for drinking and showing up to practice or something hung over.
