The Flyers signing Tippett to a high money eight year deal is one of the top exhibits and examples of their poor decision making. He is a completely one dimension player, whose top value is above average. You don't sign that kind of player to an 8 year deal unless that one dimensional aspect is all star level.

I've said it before, but I think the Tippet contract is the equivalent of the Flyers signing prime Joffrey Lupul to an 8 year deal back in the day. Fine player. Even good sometimes, but not someone you invest that much in.

They are ideally the middle sixer you bring in for 4 or 5 years in free agency/trade once you have your core roster established and you're looking to push your team into competing for the cup.

I wouldn't even put Tippett in that category. He is just too deficient in the rest of the game. The only thing he can do well is score goals and as I said previously. He doesn't even do that to a high enough level. If I'm bringing in a one dimensional goal scorer, he needs to be a 35 goal guy. Tippett does not show the ability to play off of linemates. To jump into holes at 5 on 5. He doesn't show that he has a strong skill that will translate to a good PP goal scorer such as a one timer. The overwhelming majority of his goals are individual plays off of rushes.

Luchanko had a great year. Over a PPG in his D+1 is great for a guy like him. He's going to develop into a very solid 3C who can move up in the line-up in case of injuries. He's going to be an important piece of Flyers future

? I see a lot of similarities in Luchanko’s game with Lowry (aside from the size difference). Another player he reminds me of is Lehkonen. Very similar skillset between the two of them
