Not including Laf and Kakko, who was the last Rangers prospect that had as much upside as Gabe?

I haven't been following NYR prospects that long so no idea and it doesn't makes sense to compare him to #1 and #2 overall picks.
I mean if we include prospects we traded for- Adam Fox.

Otherwise, Chererpanov is an excellent comparable. There were a lot of questions about how his game would translate to he NHL but a lot of folks saw him as having 80 point potential, which back in those days was a true upper-half 1st line production.

Nah, he had it from the beginning, Leonard never touched the puck on the 1st goal
The first goal was started by Perreault, but he passed it to Leonard, who passed it to Hutson. Hagens then cleaned up the rebound. They have changed the scoring to reflect that.

Officially, Gabe is 2+1

Can’t wait to watch the NYR healthy scratch this kid

This is what will happen. He will be taught to be a grinder for like 3 years and have disappointing production and people will complain he doesn't get a more offensive role. Then when they finally put in an offensive role and his production increases fans will complain he's not more of a grinder.

Get this kid a skating coach, don't rush him in the NHL, and they're gucci
His skating is actually better than average now. You should watch him in the tournament, his skating has greatly improved. Only thing i can say is he might have an ugly stride but he is not slow by any means.

This “he cant skate” garbage really needs to end.

He does looks noticeably better. He also looks to have filled out a good deal.

His skating technique isn't ideal and his body posture often results in him looking like he's skating hunched over instead of skating more upright with a straighter back posture - however after viewing more BC games this year his skating looks adequate to me and while not his strength, it certainly doesn't look like any flaw or serious weakeness of his. Personally I don't have any concerns about his skating being more average and mid-level.
