I think we’re underestimating parts of Perrault’s game here. In part due to the fact that he plays with Leonard.

He’s never going to be a bull in front of the net, but he goes into the traffic areas. He’s got great perception and is a pretty effective forechecker as a result (see his assist last night).

He didn’t do it last night, but he also steps up and commands the puck in big moments. The NCAA final was the best example of this.

These are Leonard’s superlatives so everyone is going to look insufficient in comparison. I don’t think perimeter player is a fair description of Perrault though.

Edit: I also don’t think we saw Perrault’s best in this tournament either. I’d give him a B-, he was solid but has another level. That alone is reason to be excited.

Gabriel had a bit of bad luck throughout the tournament. He must have hit 4/5 posts/crossbars. He could easily had more goals and points.

Don't know about that... I still think KK and Laf develop far better if drafted elsewhere. I think, just like NYR has great goalie development, it has atrocious forward development.
Laf would develop better if he knew that one right stride + one left side = 2 strides, and doing it twice double your skating distance.

Laf made me eat my words last season (for the most part), and boy was I glad to eat those words, but he's gone back to displaying everything I was critical about. It might be a hard season to judge with how the team is playing but moving your feet should still be happening.

He's a controversial player in general but I don't know any Giants fans who don't love Eli. I had pretty good confidence in Eli most of his career.

Eli was a better version of Shesterkin when he was good he was very good and when he was bad he was very bad. But he has two rings.

I knew this one guy he was some family member of a friend that every time I saw him he would say how much Eli sucked. This was towards the end of his career.

Well yeah, that makes sense.

As soon as Sabrina turns 36, I'm sending her old ass to the farm.

I mean I know every player / kid is diff, I just really need this kid to make a smooth transition to the NHL.

It might break me, for real, if this turns into Lias or even KK / Laf ongoing struggle stuff.

He was just on NHL network kind of dodged anything with the questions regarding the Rangers. He’s gone guys he’s gone.

:sarcasm:
lol
he probably wants to win a national championship and isn't committing either way until that's sorted out

I remember Zac Jones saying that he intended to stay at UMass for his junior season, and then he signed an ELC in the summer. Guys don't usually say they want to leave when the season is going on.

Seeing what was enough to earn tournament MVP and all-star honors at this year’s WJC just makes me appreciate what Stepan did in 2010 even more.

2.0PPG dragging around f***ing Jerry D’Amigo and Danny Kristo. First PP unit and first PK unit.

Best WJC performance I’ve ever seen. To me that’s way more impressive than Bedard racking up 6 points against teams in the preliminary rounds.

Stepan was an amazing draft pick, but I always felt he could have been a lot more than he was. Just truly awful physical traits.

Stepan is the worst pure athlete I've seen at this level.

Mason McTavish has the best performance I've seen at the WJC.

17 points in 7 games plus this:

Question: I would guess that has likely been asked before somewhere in this long thread and I'm asking out of curiosity more than anything else. Gabe was born in Quebec as was his dad. I know that Yanic had a long career in the NHL as a player and coach and Gabe might have grown up in Chicago when his dad was working for the Blackhawks. Why is Gabe playing for Team USA (and lucky to have him) rather than Team Canada? I know there have been cases like this before and young players need to decide where they will play (for soccer also when people need to decide how their international careers will go). Anyone have an answer?

Presumably b/c he spent most of his life in the US and went through US minors and then the NTDP as he grew up

MacTavish had an epic performance too, that’s a good shout.

Stepan got by because of his high Hockey IQ and was a very successful NHL player. Gabe is just as smart if not smarter, and a better skater. He will have a very good and long NHL career.

But does Gabe have a hot mom??

Actually his dad was NHLer so he probably does

That's if Greenland doesn't get in first.

As far as Canada I really don't think most Canadians would want to trade their health care system for ours.
