Speculation: Roster/Trade Discussion Thread

  • If you are having issues logging in, we have found opening the log in page in a new tab/window rather than using the pop out should resolve these issues. We are working to get this resolved and thank you for patience.
  • Due to the increased volume of league transactions, the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk section is temporarily restricted to where threads may only be started by moderators and sponsors. We anticipate that this restriction will be lifted some time after the first round of the draft.

90 percent of this board wanted byram and when a GM gets him the gm is an idiot.

The cost is the cost for a player. Market dictates that. Chicago wasn't the only team talking to buffalo about byram
I understand that, and I'm not sure why you're exaggerating what I wrote? I would've been happy to get Byram to add more speed and skill from the LD position. He's young and could be a long-term piece, but let's not act like this isn't a player without some serious concerns. The injury history has been well documented, and he's reportedly wanting over $10M+ on his next deal because he wants to be the main guy on his defense corps.

I didn't call Davidson an idiot. I said it seems weird based on the initially reported return (incomplete at the time I wrote it. Greenway is a depth winger who doesn't move the needle much. I don't think I'm alone in thinking utilizing the 4th overall pick for that type of return is a lot from Chicago's end. They've built enough of a cushion to soften the blow with the other players/prospects they have, but cashing in now for that type of player just seems...off? They still need a running mate for Bedard.

I guess let's see what the rest of the return is first, which was really the whole point of what I wrote.

I am the 10%.

Never wanted anything with that player.
Byram is a good player, he had a good year with Buffalo this year.
The problem is absolutely this cost. There is a cost controlled D who probably has a higher ceiling than him at 4oa.
Chicago is not "one top 4 defenseman" away from anything.
Chicago is making this move because Bedard is clearly not loving the lack of actual talent on the f'ing team.

This is a panic move.
