I can live with Brassard as a depth guy, but the Thompson signing was just pointless.

The more bad, vet presence players you accumulate, the more 6th round picks you can accumulate at the deadline when you trade them to playoff bound teams.

Buying 6th round picks (to replace the 2nd rounders you hemorrhaged value on in every trade) for vet minimum is some next level thinking by Cuck.

I think they didn't expect Brassard to be available at that price when they signed Thompson. Once Brassard fell into their laps, he was a clear upgrade.

One year at close to minimum salary was a key to signing Brassard, Thompson and Yandle, not just fitting them under the cap, but it allows them to be buried in LHV if they have nothing left in the tank or if a prospect shows they're ready for a starting role.

As we've seen with Allison, injuries WILL happen, and in that case you don't want to force Forester into the lineup before he's ready, or have to depend on Rubtsov or Ratcliffe. If you don't pick up someone like Thompson, you end up having to pick up someone like Andreoff off the waiver wire.

If someone gets hurt, bring up a prospect. Thompaon is a waste of a roster spot and we all know that AV will find a way to get his pet dinosaur into the lineup.

We did that in 2019-2020, and Vorobyev was almost as bad as Stewart, and Twarynski and Kase weren't much better, about the same as Andreoff. Bunnaman was a little better, as was Frost, but both were below replacement level. Farabee was the only rookie who played decently.

That's fine if you're the Devils and don't expect to make the playoffs, I think the Flyers have slightly higher expectations.

2) Sunday's game result was overshadowed by an injury suffered by Flyers power forward Wade Allison in the second period. On a check near the boards in the Flyers' zone, Allison went to the ice awkwardly with his foot pinned under him. He started crawling back toward the bench and then received assistance to leave the ice. The play had the look of a high ankle sprain but the details are not yet confirmed by the Flyers.

If the injury is, in fact, a high ankle sprain, Allison would be looking -- at a minimum -- of about a six-week absence. However, that particular injury is a tricky one that can require a lengthy recovery. Allison had ankle surgery prior to the 2020-21 season. Previously, during his sophomore season at Western Michigan, he suffered a torn ACL.

Different team/different players

They have 11 vet forwards without Nate. Even with Allison out and assuming Frost as the 12th, they still have Lacyzinski, Sandin, Bunny, Foerster and perhaps Rubtsov for depth. They are all better than Thompson and nowhere near the crap level of biceps and Andy.

Their is no defending Thompson, it’s a waste of cap space and it provides AV with a crutch that we don’t need.

Sadly the kid seems to be Morin version 2

I am reminded of political discourse during the Clinton Era (and now). Everything that came out from all sides was nonsense and lies completely detached from reality. But that wasn't enough. They just had to spin everything. Do you know what happens when you apply centrifugal force to nonsense and lies detached from reality?

This.

Or you can just toe the party line, question is who is Chairman Xi around here?

Yes. I do. I praise good moves, like the Ellis trade

It's not my fault nearly everything they do is bad.
All you do is harp. I don't dislike you as a person. But your posts 99% consist now of how incompetent and stupid everyone else is. I want to have some optimism heading into a new season, and it's tough to read endless negativity.

Thompson outplayed Bunny last year, low threshold, but still . . .

Thompson is >> Rubtsov, now maybe a healthy wrist and a year in the AHL will change things, but right now forget him.

Foerster is very promising, but he's exactly the kind of player you want in the AHL getting seasoning, not getting 8 minutes a night on the 4th line, trying to figure out the NHL. A few months from now he may be a no-brainer call up.

Sandin??? Can't take rookie camp seriously for a 25 year old forward, hopefully last year helped him adjust to NA hockey and we'll see a much better player this year, but you wouldn't come to camp counting on him off his AHL performance.

Wisdom? Wait until spring.

Ratcliffe, J Cates, Strome, Sushko, not off what I've seen so far. Maybe they make a big jump this season but until then . . .

I want to watch this team contend, so why should I ignore all the things that prevent them from doing so? Blindly believing isn't going to make the inevitable failure more palatable. Booze might. Heavy, borderline illegal booze.
