Dahlin concerned about high cross-checks or is he nursing something?

I thought Biro was the Benson replacement? Rousek for Tuch?

He is allowed to. Then most likely World Juniors then back to the WHL.
Apologies if I’m off topic, but any chance this will, or even is becoming a scapegoat for teams, similar to the cap circumvention Stone and Kuznetzov?
Bring a guy in to start the season for his 9games, he conveniently gets a ding, is on IR for a week or two, gets a conditioning assignment, plays in the World Juniors and then half the season is over and a decision can be made from there?

I will say the cap circumvention is annoying bc it’s cheating the system.

But this I don’t mind bc the agreement between the NHL and CHL is just stupid and hurts the development of players and I’m in favor of anything that will help mitigate it

I thought Biro took Comrie a spot when Comrie went to ir
Guessing Rousek took Bensons spot as Benson went to IR

They started 13-7-3.
Comrie on IR
with Clifton suspension they kept it open just in case a Zd was need up.
Everyone was healthy on D for game 2 so Biro got called up
now Benson on IR so all up another F for 14/7/2 standard roster. Rousek got the honor

I think the Sabres are stretching it but I do think both players are hurtZ but I think it will be hard for teams to continually do this as the NHL will eventually say enough is enough.

Let's talk about the bolded
I'm just immune to socks being folded in my shoes, socks lumping ner the tip of the shoe and don't care if the heels are placed correctly or if I swap the left and right sock.
When wearing winter clothes I'm not bothered by having five layers.

I know some people hate wearing polo shirts and spend time adjusting their socks. I've become a sock Buddha (or sock hobo maybe).

I think I adjusted my shin guards once in soccer when I was a kid (they were too small) and got a hair dryer level scolding in front of the crowd from the coach so maybe it's a rare case of punishment working.

This is all by the book and the Sabres aren't really stretching any rules. They are in a unique situation with their number of goalies and junior-eligible players, so how they are using the rules is circumstantial, which may make it look unusual. The Sabres are a pretty conservative organization and risk-averse, so this is all done in consultation with the lawyers and league.

Since it was mentioned above, 'cap circumvention' is a specific test that is performed on player contracts at time of signing. The NHL can reject a contract if they feel this is the case. The term is way overused to talk about how teams use IR to spend to the cap on their active roster during the regular season, all of which is sanctioned by owners and the NHLPA.

I don’t doubt the injuries are legit. There are no rules that require teams to IR players so some day to day players might not go on IR but some could

if the Sabres have both Benson and Savoie on the 23 man roster then some roster gymnastics would need to be done with either sending Levi to Rochester, or do some paper Rochester transactions around Levi, Peterka, and Krebs. Krebs has only so many games this year before he loses waiver exemption when 160 games hit. near deadline they could trade Olofsson

The issue is driven primarily by Tampa bay and having their player on LTIR the full season but magically being playoff healthy

Chicago with Kane did something similar but Kane injury was legit and they used his LTIR space for deadline vet. Kane returns right in time for start of playoffs.

I would like to have a roster rule change on LTIR players must have played a regular season game to be playoff eligible

I’m assuming you’re asking if this is a tactic teams will use to get around the CHL/NHL agreement.

I’d be surprised if it became a fairly common practice, especially for 18yr olds like Benson.

No need to imply something shady about the injury. I don’t think they need one to go on a conditioning stint in the AHL. Wright was sent down after 5 straight healthy scratches.

I don’t see that much of an advantage to teams doing this to be honest.

As for the CHL/NHL agreement being “stupid” as you said. It’s done to protect those junior leagues. It is frustrating and a tweak is probably warranted. But killing that agreement wouldn’t be good of those leagues or the NHL in the long run.

The agreement is set up to protect the integrity of the feeder system for the majority of players in the NHL. What is bad for development is potentially killing off those teams and the transfer money they push down into leagues below them. That is massively shortsighted.

Oh man the emotional doom & gloom, fire everybody!

Do some people even watch other NHL games around the league? There are 2 teams in the East and maybe 5 out West who are playing good sustainable hockey, and even a few might have some * based on scheduling and over acheiving. The rest are just as bi-polar and mediocre as the Sabres are right now. But of course all of those teams will improve, but the Sabres won't get it together.

It's the continuation of missing the playoffs last year and bad pre-season for me. I expected us to come out roaring this season not choking on vomit.

Something like 80% of the teams who aren’t in a playoff spot by thanksgiving don’t make the playoffs. Combine that with the fact that we missed by one point last season and that makes every game in October/November extremely important.

Also, they have only looked like the better team in maybe 3 games. The team sucks and people are noticing and understandably trying to assign blame.

I expected improvement, and the only aspect of the team that is better is the PK.

The brilliance of Adams’ roster building plan is that it never has a start date for working.

just…keep waiting.

He also has a $8.5 million handicap (under the cap). On top of that, he probably wasn't allowed to bury Bryson and save $1 M because they are paying him. I'm guessing eating half of Victor Oloffson's contract would have moved him and brought $2.375 M to the cap.

That said Okposo, Girgensons and Jost look 100% Adams moves and that's $7 M.

There was no reason to throw this season away (like last year) but here we go again. No one can take a faceoff, no decent goalie and light a top 4 d man and maybe depth on D.

The excuses just never end for Sabres

I think we should call Calgary and see if we can pluck Coleman and Weegar out.

Kulich+Krebs+Jokiharju+2nd?
I'd have a hard time trading Kulich. I guess everyone would ask for him but so far he's become a premium goalscorer at every level he master. He's probably a couple of years away from doing that in the NHL but I'd be really surprised if he doesn't become a 30-goal scorer.

Future 1st rounders should be traded though.

If you take a look at next year's cap with those two added, I think that move all but guarantees Mitts is gone. There would have to be some drastic cap cutting somewhere, unless the plan was to ice 8 ELC prospects ;)

I'd like to see these lines on Tuesday (assuming Cozens is ready):

Skinner - Thompson - Tuch
Greenway - Mittelstadt - Peterka
Krebs - Cozens - Savoie
Girgensons - Jost - Okposo

I think the 53-72-89 line has found its magic again, and 12-37-77 has been money all year. It's just about finding a 3rd line that works consistently.

In no world am I moving Jiri Kulich for any reasonable trade package. If it isn't a deal for a legit top star player (someone better then Timo Meier) then he isn't moving. Quinn, Peterka, Kulich, Rosen, and Benson are going to be the teams core wingers for the rest of the 2020s.

If Cozens can't go, I'd roll with

Girgensons-Krebs-Okposo
