Habs and Red Wings get wins today too.
Gonna be a slog for this 8 seed down to the wire, again

The playoff teams seem pretty set, barring like 4 miracles happening at once.Habs and Red Wings get wins today too.

repay us next year with the 2027 lottery win.
The Engvall one is probably the best of the contracts. One thing you can say about his playstyle is that it doesn't beat him up too badly.I think this is something that many are missing with Engvall, Mayfield, Duclair contracts.
While it’s not ideal to have these types of guys on long term deals, they are easily buried. Placing them in the minors saves nearly as much as buying them out.
You think they can make that conspiracy happen next season when the 1st overall pick is going to be a better player than the currently projected 1st overall pick?

My conspiracy is that Chicago wins the 2026 draft so they put the cousins together. Boston manages to win this years because the league can’t handle the Bruins being bad. The only thing I see happening in terms of them lucking out is “winning” this year so they can draft Hagens. You think they can make that conspiracy happen next next season when the 1st overall pick is going to be a better player than the currently projected 1st overall pick and the next currently projected 1st overall pick?
Nah they'll give it to the Penguins because the NHL can't stand seeing Pittsburgh doing bad for some reason. McKenna is gonna be the protoge to Crosby, much like Lemieux was to him.My conspiracy is that Chicago wins the 2026 draft so they put the cousins together. I’d agree if Crosby decides to retire during his rookie year like how Mario did with Sid. Outside of that I’d figure the Penguins get DuPont to replace Crosby while the Hawks get McKenna (sp?) to play alongside his cousin. This year my guess is Schaefer goes to Boston, Nashville or one of the non San Jose/Chi trash teams. The Isles miss out on the top 8 and draft in the 9 or 10 spot while the Rags magically wind up in the top 5 because “random lottery”.Nah they'll give it to the Penguins because the NHL can't stand seeing Pittsburgh doing bad for some reason. NHL owes the Islanders something. Get this team a new general manager or at least a nudge to say "get this team in the modern era".
I just want the Islanders to be fun. the NHL is fun when we are fun. I honestly felt like a LOT of people had fun with the ECF runs because they actually played a fun style of hockey. Too bad this team just feels so bland and boring. It really doesn't feel right that this is still a 2000's era team with zero goal scoring threats, and a team that still has a facial hair policy in an age where social media is king.I’d agree if Crosby decides to retire during his rookie year like how Mario did with Sid. What the NHL owes the Isles is 2 cup wins before the Rangers even sniff an ECF appearance again. Toss in an ASG, Four Nations (or equivalent) and/or a draft as well. If they want to do the send off for the Olympics fine but make it done properly and not some typical Isles watch from a 500 ft distance like every STH event with the team. Take control away from Lou so the fans get to interact with the players like the older days.
I’m not even going into the team being good but just events overall:I just want the Islanders to be fun. the NHL is fun when we are fun. Yup. For example, MTL and DET are ahead of the Isles in the standings and they play each other tomorrow, so that's a guaranteed 2 points (possibly 3) going to rivals for WC2. As you said, the Isles making the playoffs would be miraculous. The playoff teams seem pretty set, barring like 4 miracles happening at once.
It’s only really possible on paper.Yup. For example, MTL and DET are ahead of the Isles in the standings and they play each other tomorrow, so that's a guaranteed 2 points (possibly 3) going to rivals for WC2. As you said, the Isles making the playoffs would be miraculous.
So, whether other men are allowed to grow facial hair or not has a direct impact on whether you have fun watching the hockey team? That has to be one of the stranger things I have read on here in awhile.I just want the Islanders to be fun. the NHL is fun when we are fun. Montreal actually looked awful last night. They were drastically outplayed from beginning to end by a horrible Nashville team. Getting outshot 37-17 and by all metrics Nashville should have won that game 80% of the time. Montreal was saved by their backup goalie who has played like 15 games the whole year. He did the kind of thing that our goalies have rarely if ever done this year -- stealing a win in a game that we were outshot and outplayed by almost double. Usually for us we are outshooting the other team and losing 4-2. If we had a few more steals from our goalies this year, we would be in the playoffs. It’s only really possible on paper.
MTL has done a good job rebuilding. They are playing well and prob deserve to make it. Amazing what happens when you have a GM and org making smart moves.
All six of the Isles remaining games are certainly winnable, whether they win them or not is a different story. The fact is we would have to win minimum 5 to have any chance and if we win 5 or 6, because of the head to heads there is almost no chance we do not finish ahead of the Rags, BJs and Detroit. It comes down to Montreal going 2-2-1 if we win 6 or 1-3-1 if we win 5. They have to lose at least two of the next three, if not all three. Against Detroit and then on the road against Ottawa and Toronto, so it is definitely possible. Their last two games are against Chicago and Carolina which are almost certainly two wins.Yup. 2026?
The NHL ain't gonna be that generous...

It might be unpopular, but I think DeAngelo has to be resigned. If we can get him to agree to a 3 year deal for 3-4 million per, you gotta do it. He has easily been our second best dman behind only Romanov.Actually, all the cycling they've been doing in recent weeks, where the Dmen are also moving all around the offensive zone, has been very unique when compared to recent years.
A lot more movement of bodies and pucks now. That definitely sticks out as something new.
Almost feels like it came when DeAngelo arrived.

They have games on three consecutive days? What is this, baseball?Don't worry folks.
This is where the season will be ending, namely with 4 games in 5 days.
