I dream of a season where we're closer to the President's Trophy than the 8th seed.
No idea how that is going to happen, so just going to pray and I'm sure it will happen one of these years. If you just keep trying the same thing eventually it work out. Very confident in that.
If we make it we would either play the Caps(if we finish 2nd wild card) or the Panthers/Leafs with a longshot of Bolts.
Can we name some undrafted college free agents who amounted to something in the NHL?
Thank you. Been awhile since I have been on here as I mistakenly let the negativity become unbearable. After reading Staple coming to grips that he was wrong I thought I would take a peak at downer-ville and so glad to see this response. I admit it has been a very disappointing season as I was hoping that this middle of the pack team would give it one more shot with some positive new additions and was continuously met with poor special teams and defensive blunders and INJURIES. Yes injuries are part of the game but it absolutely hurt this team. For us older fans and for those older dynasty players wishing for losses was never acceptable. That is the absolutely the most loser attitude for any fan of the sport. Group think can delude an entire fanbase to think this is the appropriate approach to take. You try your best under all situations and not to do so because your team wants a high draft pick is the definition of unsportsmanlike and teams that go in that direction eventually pay their dues because it shows a lack of character on the part of fans and the organization. In Lou's defense he's actually doing a better job now in the latter part of his GM tenure with the Isles than he did at the beginning. The future is looking good and this team is STILL very talented and competitive and have shown that they can defeat and hang with the best on any given night. To not cheer the team on right now at this very moment is just plain stupid. STUPID!
I would take just winning the division lol. I think it was 87 last time the islanders won the division when it was the good old days of the Patrick Division.Yep, the good ol' lightning in a bottle tactic...
Just bound to happen one of these years, right?
I’m good with Roy but he needs to figure out the special teams. Either get assistants that can or figure it outSome words of praise for our coach.
He’s produced an unexpectedly competitive squad out of a roster that has major deficiencies. No elite #1C, no legit #2C, terrible 4th line, no true #1Dman on either side and an awful PP/PK. Perhaps he should shoulder some of the blame for the PK/PP but frankly he doesn’t have the horses.
Some have criticized his intensity as being out of touch for today’s players. I call BS on that and I think it’s an asset. I also wouldn’t underestimate the gravitas that comes with the way he carries himself and the Cups he’s won as a player.
I’d venture a guess and say that if we still had any of our prior dozen coaches (except for BT) we’d be solidly in a lottery spot.
My only hope is that he survives the inevitable friction of his relationship with the GM and is the last man standing.
I personally think Pettersson is extremely overrated and is damaged goods. I don’t want anything to do with Pettersson, especially at the expense that it would cost. I’d take Marner any day. I think he is heavily scrutinized in Toronto, but he is an excellent player that would benefit playing in a smaller market.
I will also add in that I don’t think Marner is realistic. I think a guy like Ehlers would be a great addition for us.
spot on! Montreal can throw a shit load of offers, but we shouldn't consider any unless Caufield is mentioned. If you want Dobson, you better be prepared to involve Caufield.
I'm not sure what you are asking. But the 1993-94 season and roster was way better than our roster was at the start of this season and definitely now.Question for you older Isles fans...
Are you happy the team made the playoffs in 1994...Or if you could change it would you have them miss them if it meant not having to watch and have that series as a part of history?
Lou's done for the summer.![]()
The addition of Gleb '
and the emergence of March/April Engvall
is making this lineup really difficult to project next year. Gotta think at the very least Pageau is gone.

Don't think he plays any role right now.
From what I've seen of his college play, he's a bit of a project.
Am enjoying it now but no telling what he is in Roy's plans come the fall.
He's gotta be. He's already falling apart in front of our eyes right now.
His departure is one of the keys to opening space up front for players who can lead to better things.
I'm not sure you would - it would suck to lose to JTWould absolutely LOVE to see a PO series against the Leafs!
