Roster/Rumors/Speculation/Trade Talk - 2024-25: Re-Tool, Re-Group, Re-Mix, Re-Build

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

In the meantime, feel free to join our Discord Server
Love the idea and optimism, but there is ZERO chance of moving up 3 spots into the top 5 with Bednarik and a fourth

Here is an old article by current NHL GM eric Tulsky. Looks like the cost to move up from 8 to 5 is around a middle second round pick, which is what Bednarik was. It does mention that the highest pick that was acquired was a 7th in the data set, so anything above that is an estimate. But that should at least get you close.

Mctavish, Rossi, Byfield, Caufield. Or even A+ prospects and picks. Stay far away from Pettersson.
Mactavish - I spoke about.
The Wild have Faber, so Dobson would be redundant.
The Kings have Clarke
You are dreaming if you think Habs are trading Caufield.

If isles continue to fall in the standings - I don't see them falling as far 4th or 5th, but possibly 6th or 7th.

I do wonder if the Isles land in the 6th or 7th spot and Sabres are in the 3rd or 4th spot - Would a Dobson + 7 OA for Byram + 3rd or 4th OA be something of interest? You want to get into the top 4.

Where is the dropoff in this years draft class? There always seems to be one right before the Islanders pick. The Islanders dont have the draft capital to move up so, the best solution is possibly to suck enough to get the highest possible pick and then try to move back a little. Snow made a stellar job of that in 2008, and if there is no consensus pick in the 6-10 range, moving back makes sense.
