Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. The admin team will continue to work on existing issues, templates and upgrade all necessary available addons to minimize impact of this new version. Click Here for Updates
Doesn’t look like Dobson or Hogberg slated today which is a little concerning. Will be interesting to see what they with the D once Dobson comes back. Huge logjam on the right side.

I would hope the Isles have no interest in Kuzmenko; since his great first year, he's been terrible and jettisoned from two teams. If the Isles are adding in the offseason I would hope they aim for high end players.

Seriously though, if the Isles do make a deal DET has almost an excess of good prospects - if they're looking for a vet they might be willing to part with some of their overabundance.
"At some point you move to part with prospects and picks to get a boost and the trio of Kasper/Lombardi/Danielson may present a player that another team could be looking for."
Rosner might be just making this up - I am not sure how connected he actually is. He pumps out a lot of stuff, but I don't know that he's got an inside track on these types of personnel moves. But, if he does have inside info, and Lou and Palmieri are actually discussing an extension, I think just reinforces a lot of people's perspectives on here that Lou is completely out of touch with where the Isles actually are.

Sure, but another way to look at it is, for similar money/term would you rather sign 29 year old Kuzmenko who had 39 goals a few years ago, or 34 year old Palmieri? If you look at it that way....
I get that for sure, and if Kuzmenko signs for league minimum or super cheap, what's the harm. That said, I'm hoping they don't sign either one. Either bring in high end talent like Marner, Rantenen, or Ehlers (even as I get that the Isles have never really been successful at this), or do a retool which might include another year of not being competitive while clearing out more UFAs. They shouldn't waste all their future potential cap space signing mediocre middle six players to too much money for too long - like Engvall and Duclair. I don't think Palmieri is a bad as either of those two yet, but if he's signed long term, he definitely has the potential to be; as does Kuzmenko.

Bringing back Palmieri isn’t a bad move on its own, but in the broader context—especially alongside re-signing Nelson—it means running it back with the same team, and they cannot do that again. This roster needs a shake-up.
Playing devil’s advocate - both Nelson and Palmieri will be key UFAs on the market and if they weren't already Islanders I wonder if Fans would be advocating to sign them. I think I wouldn't mind one of them back at a reasonable contract (term and cap hit) but not both. However, I would much rather have Palmieri for 3 more years at 4.35 AAV than Duclair for 3 at 3.5.

The Islanders today sent out an email teasing upcoming season ticket renewals. If they extend Nelson and Palmieri ownership will keep chasing away the few season ticket subscribers they have left.

History tells you NONE of those premier players are intentionally going to sign as a UFA with the Isles…
So, the Isles still need to ice a roster. Rolling off the UFAs vs resigning them gives them flexibility, but in the end it’s what is done with that flexibility that matters.
Lou (and ANY GM) of the Isles faces that challenge.

Lmao when I suggested 18 months ago to trade the $9M uninvited to Canada ‘talent’ for Brady Tkachuk and people wanted keep him.
Roy loves him too and dont be surprised to see Pageau stick around in a similar circumstance next year at this time
