If Barzal goes on LTIR, I would look for us to target Boeser, who fits the RH shooting position on the PP and changes the dynamic of how we would attack. We certainly wouldn't have to worry about him holding the puck too long.

He's also signed for another year and takes Palm's place next year.
Boeser’s deal expires this year, not next- and all signs point towards him signing with Minnesota.

They already can't score WITH them, so yeah it will be fun to actually attempt to find some pieces who can help the team score.

It is also a possibility to sign one / both of them even if you trade them...
That requires changing the other parts of the roster.

Everyone is signing with Minnesota, apparently. Worked out great each time that’s happened.

When and if Nelson and Palms are gone, gonna be really fun watching the Isles find another 50 goals somehow for a team that barely scores as it is…
Are you suggesting re-signing both of them? Considering this has been a low offense team in the Lou era then let that signal the journey to more ping pong balls.

Anything to get us out of the Groundhog Day this franchise has been trapped in since 2022.

No, I do believe Lou should trade both on or before the deadline.

Nelson should not be resigned as a UFA. Palms resigning as a UFA? That’s fine for his role, price, and productivity.

It’s going to be near meaningless if the Isles just replace these players/roles and keep the rest of the group as is. The ‘rest’ is what needs to be changed.

yep, a third of the team has been out the entire year. glad you've been paying attention 🥱🥱🥱
Actually, no, but that’s ok.

How’s the record coming along?

I agree that both should be traded for whatever the market dictates. Get too cute and wait too long and you risk losing suitors or the players getting injured.

I’m solidly against resigning Palms. I’ll trot out the +/- stat line. He was a team worst last year and he’s close to the worst this year. I can accept that it’s not the best metric in the world, but when a trend is seen, I tend to believe it. More importantly, my eyes don’t deceive me and I just see a lot of goals against him when he’s on the ice. He just turned 33 and regression in his play is to be expected in the upcoming seasons. I don’t want to be a part of that and for that matter I also don’t want to have him taking a roster spot that could be used for a younger player with potential.

I've said it before, but I'll be shocked if Lou trades Nelson and Palmieri for straight futures. The best we could hope for would be that he turns them into a younger player (or players). Deal a 33 and 34 year old and end up with a 24-28 year old. Not saying what he should do, but what I think is more likely (well, more likely might be extending Brock for 3 years....).
