Shows Lou is desperate and he knows his seat is hot, only positive here.
I haven't seen anyone mention that Lou didn't trade a pick or prospect for someone to fill in as RHD/PP guy. It's league minimum, prorated for half the season. Probably for a guy Lou had to hold his nose for. Kinda makes you wonder if there maybe aren't some ownership handcuffs in play? If people are looking for a silver lining....

Doesn’t make much sense for the isles to be giving up capital for a rental. We are desperate. He was free. That’s why he is here. I’m guessing Dobson is pretty much done for the season.

Agree.....nothing to see here, just that Dobson is likely out long term and this is a free replacement if he clears who could still help without any kind of commitment. I have no problem with this.

Pretty sure it's an unwritten rule amongst GMs that you don't pickup a player it's clear decided to sign with one team. Unless of course you truly DGAF (anyone know what I'm talking about?).

Would actually be funny if someone picked up TDA just to piss Lou off (especially since it's only TDA). In the past no one would've done that to him, but now would be a sign maybe GMs don't care about his intimidation tactics).
Isn't that how the Isles got Nabokov years ago - signed by another teams (sharks maybe?) and had to clear waivers first and Isles claimed him. Maybe SJ will return the favor and claim TDA

I know it’s just sports but words can’t describe how much I hate the TDA move. He’s a POS and so bad that even the Rags cut ties with him. At least in the past we held the moral high ground over those losers.

If the next shoe to drop is signing Coach Q in the offseason then I am truly out as an Isles fan.

Think about this...

Tony D'Angelo has NHL level skills. The kind of skills that any possible playoff team/Cup contender would like to have, but...

None of them decided to sign him...Except for your GM who by doing so is saying to the fans that he still "believes in this team" as a contender.

It's beyond bad right now.

You should sprinkle in some positivity. It will make these kinds of posts more believable.

Yup, we are desperate and he was free. But how does Lou signing a guy with baggage because he's "free" jibe with the speculative talk of Lou trading away a 1st at the TDL?

We all know what Lou needs to do. I don't get the hysterics on this one. It is not like we signed the player to a Pierre Engvall term contract. We have played 46 games and we still have to play the remaining schedule. Lou filled a need with a player who may be able to improve the pp.

I personally don't think this team is making the playoffs so trade off pieces and evaluate roster. Now if it is March 7 and Lou sits on his hands because he wants to run it back..... I will lose my sh*t.

I truly have no idea what Dobson's contract will look like moving forward.

FWIW, if the Isles have nothing else they seem to have a really good "room". Look at Lehner who, despite how he's done everywhere else, won a Vezina here and still misses the team. Maybe TDA actually settles in a bit here? At minimum he's really dangerous on the PP, and that's kinda sorta a "need".

Worth noting that he has to clear entry waivers first.

CBA Article 13.23 states that any UFA who plays professionally overseas after the start of the NHL Regular season, has to go through entry waivers. The 2020 MOU then amended that to December 15th as the cut-off date (Amendment 56)

Example:
A few years ago, to fix a goalie issue, the Maple Leafs signed goaltender Harri Säteri after December 15th and he had to go through entry waivers as well, resulting in him being claimed by the Arizona Coyotes, leaving the Leafs still with a goalie problem.

CBA article and MOU amendment attached for clarity.
