Wow sounds like Necas going to AVS. That’s a hell of a player to get for a UFA. Necas is a 26 year old top6 center who is signed another year I think. He’s also having a great season.

Have to think Carolina is going to try and sign Rantanen long term.

I'd like to believe that, but it doesn't prove that at all. It is certainly possible that he could have literally no pressure from Malkin, legit believes in this team, and that this signing is the best thing to help win now.


However what it does prove is that Lou is (still) not doing the right thing for the franchise.

I like the move. The Isles haven't had a real puck moving defensemen in a while. I also like
the emotions DeAngelo brings to the team. The Isles are such a vanilla team to watch, it's really frustrating and at times, boring. He'll definitely improve the power play!

I’m on board with this but Aho is one of his best friends and I feel Carolina will do everything to keep him. If he does test the market though you absolutely go after him hard.

But it's not strange...It's good management.

You simply cannot let good/great talent leave as a UFA for nothing.

They tried to resign him, he wouldn't, and therefore he's got to go (and before he gets injured).

Still pains me the Isles didn't do the same thing with Tavares years ago. The assets that we could've gotten by dealing could've put the team over the top vs Tampa.

You are not, and it kinda seems like they didn’t get much value for facilitating this. Both Hall and the retention are worth at least a third each, possibly more IMO.
