Yes he could. Let’s not get silly.Denis Potvin couldn't make this PP good.
The point man is the least of the problems with this PP.Yes he could. Let’s not get silly.
I believe Lou said it best “too long and it's too much money”.Rumor Mill:
- Colorado isn't done, they aren't thrilled with Mittelstadt
- Nelson has been connected to Colorado
Mittelstadt (26 years old) is a clear downgrade on Nelson, but under contract for two more seasons at 5.75M per, although I am not sure I see him as a center, especially with a 40% faceoff win percentage.
I'm just connecting two dots, but I wouldn't be surprised if this was a swap that could happen.
Well it's one of five and I'd take Horvat and Lee as the least of the problems first. The lack of one timers on the sides are higher but let's be real. Deangelo can walk the line with the puck and no one else has shown that ability. The point man is the least of the problems with this PP.
He can be mad but he wasn’t budging on his asking price supposedly of $14+mil AAV. Now he might be 100% worth it and I actually believe he is but Colorado has to pay Mackinnon and Makar as well.
Respect to the AVS for making this difficult decision but not losing him for nothing. We know all to well about that. *** Cough*** Tavares
Have to think if that could be accomplished Colorado would just that themselves. Then flip Mittelstadt for Miller - boom
Agreed. It was great on Avs partThis was not a panic move but rather what a good GM should do. Getting a top 6 forward and bottom 6 forward both in their prime and 2 draft picks is a good return for a pending free agent that is unlikely to return.
And Carolina uses a player that they didn’t feel was core player at his price, traded up for a guy that earns his keep AND plays a very different game. This was not a panic move but rather what a good GM should do. That’s fair. But it’s better than not receiving positive texts I guess lolLove when players need to be reassured of an incoming teammate's character.
(And if they also received texts saying what a dirtbag Tony D. is, would they have shared that in the media. No - I think not.)
Agreed, we both agree that the Isles have 2 such players - one already signed to a big contract and one who wants one. Both should be moved. Lou please call Vancouver or Ottawa. And Carolina uses a player that they didn’t feel was core player at his price, traded up for a guy that earns his keep AND plays a very different game.
Something the Isles should have already done.
They need to waive someone.
If Dobson does not go on LTIR*
He's gotten dragged by the media. It makes sense.Love when players need to be reassured of an incoming teammate's character.
No one has ever said it could or would never happen, just that the isles shouldn’t do this at this point. Carolina is in a very different place than the Isles, they have a deep roster, with a lot of high end pieces and are competing for the Cup. This makes sense for Carolina, but would make no sense for the Isles to ship out younger, controlled players for older UFA’s.Well, well, well. Carolina just sent out a signed termed ‘core’ player (probably one they felt were never going to win with) for a top unrestricted free agent (unsigned).
Visionaries… some around here said that could/would never happen…yet, here we are. Brilliant.
A Nelson for Middlestadt move feels extremely Lou-y. Probably the closest we’ll get to a dump trade. Maybe they add like a 5thRumor Mill:

If Miller is set on heading back eastHave to think if that could be accomplished Colorado would just that themselves.
They still have no goalie....Came to post this but wow. What a trade, Carolina going for it
He’s probably just set on being back in the US.If Miller is set on heading back east
