Now if they can lose Engvall and add a real PK specialist it would make the 4th line actually function...
Just need to get Matty through his remaining 25 games first and then it’s 100% on. Engvall is probably done when Varlamov is back due to cap constraints as well as Fasching.

I don't think Wahlstrom has been hyped since 2022, let alone over-hyped. But yeah, I'm glad the team has moved on from him.
I really think this is going to be a status quo year and then once the off season starts, Roy gets full control of personnel changes for next year. They force Lou to move out who he doesn’t want and go from there.

Connecticut
Isles
Buffalo
Rags
Detroit
Anaheim
Habs

All of the above have played below expectations. Some are in free fall.

2 things come to mind.
1. These circumstances increase the chances for a hockey trade to shake things up.
2. Firing a GM and /or coach is rare during the season but it just may happen. If an owner has their eyes on someone who is available they might want to move on it before another team beats them to it.
For the life of me, I can’t think of a GM out there who I’d like to see take over the Isles. Silver lining: The way things are going, Lou’s kid won’t get the job.

Legit serious/curious...

Is there anyone out there who thinks Lou just needs more time to get this team to Cup contention?
I have been a Lou supporter and IMO, he has certainly done a lot for this organization, but
He turns 83 next fall and the way this season has gone - there needs to be a succession plan.

My hope is that Lou retires after this season and Roy becomes the new GM.
Roy is a champion, he is candid and passionate, and I love the direction he has taken the team, albeit it has not resulted in points.

The roster needs a serious shake-up and I would like to see some fresh ideas, but I do not think it is necessary to blow this up.
