Have a horrible feeling Boston fixes Wahlly and we look dumb for messing up his development.
You've got a 50/50 chance, way to go out on a limb.

I had a feeling the fanbase would collectively get amnesia and forget the team was still mid before all the injuries
In a small sample size? Huh? It'd be dumb to say we saw enough of the Islanders 100% healthy to say we know how they'll compete.

When everyone is healthy, I would like to see the following...

Tsyplakov-Horvat-Pageau
Lee-Nelson-Palmieri
MacLean-Barzal-Duclair
Engvall-Cizikas-Holmstrom

Pelech-Pulock
Romanov-Dobson
Cholowski/George-Mayfield

Expecting more of the same from a healthy lineup—mediocrity. Too good for a top-3 pick, not good enough to be legit playoff contenders.

That’s awful. They need to fire Lou and blow the whole roster up ASAP.

I really think Cizikas sucks and haven't been a fan or his for years. I've been somewhat critical of him around these parts but has seemingly been given a past because of his tenure and history with the organization.

I think Engvall will be back when the cap situation is in a better position, he's not great by any means but I also do trust him more than Fasching or Martin and think he's being used as a scapegoat for Lamoriello/Roy's shortcomings personally.
Agree. It's obvious he's Roy's fall guy and is clearly not a player to his liking. Cizikas, on the other hands, seems to get a free pass despite being on a horrible downslide that's accelerating fast.

What the Isles organization (Lou) hasn't come to grips with is simply that the NHL is in motion and players and styles are in constant change. Holding on to the likes of Martin, and keep signing players to never-ending deals is the exact opposite of what they should be doing. I've said many times over, that there really should be an organizational ban on giving more than 3 years to 30+ players, and that there really should only be a player or two on a deal more than 5 years. Hockey is becoming a young man's game, and career trajectories will become similar to that of soccer.

The last thing this team needs is sticking to its guns and keep plugging on with the same squad for years to come. Nelson and Palms need to go, and Pageau and Lee as well next season. The transition needs to get going, but the main thing is getting rid of Lou.

Nelson has been rumored to Minnesota and Dallas but I’m wondering NJD would be interested in Palmeiri. Obviously he’s played there before and keeps him close to where he’s living now too. Not sure about their prospect pool at the moment and who would be a good target in there

Agree on Grandpa Casey. He can’t stay on his skates anymore. He’s become the fall down king if Elmont. As for Engvall, I can’t see a way he takes a regular shift for the Islanders as long as Patrick Roy is around.
Casey gets a pass cause he’s a “warrior”
Maybe at one time he was, now? He’s a detriment to the team
Engvall has skill and size, unfortunately he doesn’t use either
Engvall is a frustrating player, but he is exactly who he is, here and in Toronto

Teams to target Van, Col, Dallas, Wild and Jets for picks.

Pageau, Nelson and Palmieri I think are all going.

I'd probably rather not because I want him to be an Islander for life but I think Lee could get some play too. Wonder how realistic it is to unload Lee, Nelson, Pageau and Palmieri all at the deadline.

We have 0 retained salary spots, could be utilized well. Plus maybe taking back a contract that's expiring or low, like Desharnis from Van for example, could facilitate a Lee or Pageau trade more easily.

It’s bizarrely amazing to be dead last in PP and PK, yet still have more points than 8 other teams in the league.
This is by no means a silver lining, but as a team I don’t think we’re necessarily as bad as a bottom 10 team. Now, I’m 100% of the selling party, but once we retool in a year or too, I think it shows we have a somewhat sustainable result, and just need a few specialists on the PP and PK. Eiserman should be one of those on the PP in a couple years, but we’ll see

Another amazing oddity - isles tops in the league in face off win %. Yet can barely win a face off when it counts the most.

Good Luck to Wahly.
I hope he figures it out.
I'm just glad it's one less Frustrating Player we have.

Always nice when your 11th overall pick (who's still only 24) and making almost minimum wage not only is put on waivers, but barely anyone even talks about it.

It's an absolute shitshow right now in this franchise.

In Lou we trust! Back when many here wanted to hear nothing bad about Lou who brought responsibility to this franchise. So many doubts out there from hockey insiders on what direction this franchise is heading. I , for one, feel that if things don’t change soon , we could be decades away and back in a rebuild.

That's not in my top 10, he sucks and I wouldn't waste ink on him. And every team has draft busts, it only really hurts when it's a top 5 pick.

Golden Knights as well. They have done some questionable things with the cap but they are always gunning for it. I say put Cizikas on that list too and see who bites. The Leafs as well.
