I really think Cizikas sucks and haven't been a fan or his for years. I've been somewhat critical of him around these parts but has seemingly been given a past because of his tenure and history with the organization.
I think Engvall will be back when the cap situation is in a better position, he's not great by any means but I also do trust him more than Fasching or Martin and think he's being used as a scapegoat for Lamoriello/Roy's shortcomings personally.
Agree. It's obvious he's Roy's fall guy and is clearly not a player to his liking. Cizikas, on the other hands, seems to get a free pass despite being on a horrible downslide that's accelerating fast.
What the Isles organization (Lou) hasn't come to grips with is simply that the NHL is in motion and players and styles are in constant change. Holding on to the likes of Martin, and keep signing players to never-ending deals is the exact opposite of what they should be doing. I've said many times over, that there really should be an organizational ban on giving more than 3 years to 30+ players, and that there really should only be a player or two on a deal more than 5 years. Hockey is becoming a young man's game, and career trajectories will become similar to that of soccer.
The last thing this team needs is sticking to its guns and keep plugging on with the same squad for years to come. Nelson and Palms need to go, and Pageau and Lee as well next season. The transition needs to get going, but the main thing is getting rid of Lou.
