The whole team could stand to learn the old Bossy formula - get your shot off as quickly as possible without looking (much, or at all) and aim for where you think the middle of the net is, and chances are you'll "miss" and hit a corner or catch the goalie moving and put it under his arm or something.

Tsyplakov scored a goal earlier this season that was an incredibly fast release. And don't laugh, but Barzal has a great release... he just thinks too much to use it frequently enough....

It's really not rocket science. Get shots off faster, and rush the net to create screens and get rebounds.

People are very quick to forget that the top line was absolutely cooking before Duclair went down. Was only a few games obviously but Duclair has a track record of success playing with guys like Barkov, Kucherov and Brady Tkachuk and was immediately meshing with Barzal and Horvat.

The thing that has hurt him over his career is that he seems to be made of glass and we’re experiencing that firsthand right now. As long as he’s not hampered by the groin he should go back to being effective when he’s back on the ice.
You should forget, it’s the first ten games of the regular season. Teams are figuring things out, scrubs that made the team are playing NHL games and 9 game rookies are playing, new systems are being worked on, etc.

This is why winning in March and April with things on the line is harder and viewed as a premium. Playing great in the first 10 games, with 70 to go ain’t so hot.

The Duke-Barzal-Horvat line was not gonna last. It would be countered bc it would be predictable just like Horvat-Barzal-anyone was.

Ok I’ll continue to throw out stats because they don’t fit your narrative lol. God forbid anything contradicts Throttle’s crystal ball

It’s also another way for “slow” teams to play a bit faster. Tempo is different than speed.

Both . . . why choose? Romanov / Pelech / George . . . Dobson / Pulock / Mayfield
I guess because if we feel comfortable-ish with George in the top 4, it would give us the opportunity to try and move Pelech in the offseason and replace him with a player of Roy’s choosing that may help clear out some salary. There’s also the off chance that one of our glut of LHD prospects could be ready for that role next season

How many NHL games has George played in his career?

I’m not trusting him with the keys to the car just yet.

I think Pelech is how they are going to clear some cap space IMO. George has played well but even beyond him is Odelius, Pulkinnen and Warren. I doubt we see Bolduc again and either will be guy they add to some deal or ends up in Europe at some point.

I have not been able to watch full games, but upon watching highlights he has made some bad mistakes in his defensive zone where Sorokin/Varly has had to bail him out.

Enough where I've noticed and remembered it has been 1-2 times per game. No chance I trust him yet.

yep, we have 3 or 4 guys on the left side that will probably be ready for a shot. If they can't move Pelech I wouldn't be shocked if they look into what the return would be on Romanov

Totally agree on the several maalox moments per game with George and his judgement. With saying that, you can see his potential. Trotz would always say the NHL is not a developmental league, but they can look to shelter him some with pairing and minutes for the time being.

What I will add is that he has the wheels and skating ability to sometimes atone for a poor pass or turnover. That is not ideal, but consider the alternative if he lacked decision making and did not have the speed to recover. Rooting for the kid but he is certainly raw and would not argue the decision if he sits or returns to the Bridge this year for a bit and looks to possibly grab a full time spot next year.

Sorry, got to draw the line on that one. Romanov??? Not a bleeping chance should that be even speculated on. He's 24 years old and blossoming into Pelech at Pelech's best.

Maybe up to $100 million in two years. There's only so much need for cap space via trade. You could extend Dobson and Romanov and even if you brought back Plams/Brock for 2 more years at basically the same price and extend Tsyp, you basically can fit all of it in at $100 million.

Trotz would always say the NHL is not a developmental league

Trotz's record of developing young players hasn't exactly panned out for a while. No youngster is contributing for Nashville right now and frankly I don't see a lot of remnants of his influence on youngsters here either.

This might not be a developmental league, but you do have to live with a few learning curves too. Nashville has the 2nd worst record in the league with the team he's iced this year.

Most coaches don’t want to play kids unless they are forced to or are in the bottom of the standings looking up at 28 other teams.

Trotz knew how to implement a system and have the players orchestrate it very well. That’s why certain players that excelled in that system, haven’t excelled outside of it.

The team performed well in an offensive suffocating system based on the players he had. Fans were not fond of it though. 2 coaches later, zero playoff wins, and lots of nothing going on but hopes and dreams.

The minute Trotz could use OPM to change the culture and buy a bunch of old dudes with his tax advantages…he went all in to win, not develop anyone AND that’s as a GM.
