I think the organization needs to look heavily into trading one of Barzal or Dobson. I am hesitant to trade a young defenseman who has put up an elite point scoring season but I am even more hesitant giving Dobson a huge long term contract after this season.

Barzal is a solid 70-80 point elite skating forward but he does not seem to be more than that. If this is indeed the case I wonder if the Islanders could swing a package for him. This team somehow looks better without him during two stretches now.

Oh and by the way Ehlers is having a career start to his season.

Can you win a Cup with Barzal as a first line center and Dobson as a first pairing defenseman? I am honestly not sure what the answer to that question is. I do know that Pageau, Horvat, and Lee should not be broken apart on the first line though.

Engvall-Cizikas-Holmstrom has had some nice shifts and have been able to get the cycle going.

They are not a typical "bruiser" fourth line, but I think you keep that line together until one o

Lee-Horvat-Pageau
Tysplakov-Nelson-Palmieri
Duclair-Barzal-Fasching/Wahlstrom or Duclair-MacLean-Barzal
Engvall-Cizikas-Holmstrom
If Lee Horvat Pageau can be a legit producing line. It opens up big possibilities for the isles with barzal and duclair coming back.

We’ve seen the results and the answer is “probably not.” Both should be available for the right price.

But he should, you know, be seen as a serious candidate, right?

:sarcasm:

Borderline, but worthy of consideration!

A great example of how trades for rebuilds don't always work out . . . Tonelli stayed productive for 6 more seasons after that deal

The Isles should hire Oates.

Oates is a Lou guy.

Soooo…

Brent Sutter-head coach
Adam Oates-forwards
Larry Robinson-defensemen

Let’s see if Roy lasts the season.

They've been good over the past few games for sure. It was a long time ago now so it's easy to forget, but the few games we got from Duclair - Horvat - Barzal were way better.

In the small sample size that we have, that top 9 looked really really good from a scoring chance standpoint - the issue is that no one was finishing. I'd love to see them give it a chance again now that they seem to have hit their stride a bit on that front.

We’re getting near the 20 game mark.

Who here had Palmieri and Lee both with more goals than Horvat? Good on them.

Now for the other side that we all love to talk about. Dobson with 0 goals. Cizikas with 1 and MacLean also with 0. I wasn’t expecting much from those 3 on the scoresheet but that’s embarrassing.

Dobson has 51 shots, not exactly someone who has fallen off in input. Reversion to mean is likely. He's certainly started to join the rush more lately.

Anything from MacLean is a bonus and he's replaceable. Cizikas should be 4th line anyhow, and Holmstrom is the line driver there.

To be only 1 point out of the wild card with our injuries is encouraging to me. As for the 'gee I wish Trotz was GM . . . well, they are in last place in the overall league with all those high-end offense players . . .'.

The Sabres are rumored to be looking to do something 'big' if they can, referenced on the trade forum from a Lebrun article.

So what is this generations Lafontaine / Turgeon blockbuster equivalent?

I agree that Cizikas at this point is strictly 4th line; and MacLean is easily replaceable - I feel like people were getting a bit too excited about him. We do need more from our third and fourth lines though - right now Holmstrom is the only one who is really doing much. Once we start to get healthy, that should improve depth. I'd like to see a 'third' line of Barzal-Duclair-Holmstrom.

If we make a deal with BUF, I just hope we don't send a protected 1st round pick to them. I don't feel like re-living 2014 with those fans.

Boy, has Dobson been playing too much hide the salami or not enough at home? Guy is a middle of road dman in this league right now. What happened to our budding 2x memorial cup winning anchor phenom dman?
