Here we go again with cherry-picking when it comes to the rebuild argument.
When you mention how it failed for the Coyotes just make sure you also mention how it worked for the Kings, Penguins, Blackhawks, Avs, and Lightning.
In fact almost every franchise where you can say a rebuild failed pretty much every time the ownership sucked:
- Coyotes
- Sabres
- Blue Jackets (although making progress now)
- Senators (new owners now and having their best season in years)
- Islanders (remember when they drafted Dal Colle, Strome, & Reinhart in the top 5 under snow/wang)
Just because a rebuild doesn't guarantee anything (and/or you're afraid of change), don't shit upon a process that has already been proved to work when it's done right. If you want to stick your head in the sand and not make any significant changes in the front office and on the ice, then stop complaining about the lackluster/poor results of continuing on this path.
Because a rebuild might have some risk, but you can be sure if we don't make some big changes then there's no doubt any hope of a Cup will disappear further in the distance than it already is.
