Dobson week to week. In a weird way it might help in the short term. He’s struggled this year. On the flip side…our D is looking pretty thin

Don't like your take on moving Nelson and ANY 1st rounders, then have us trading for Miller who is going to be 32 years old with 6 year remaining on an 8M per year deal. If you are trading Nelson we are getting picks and young prospects. I can't see how this doesn't make sense to everyone?? I don't care with everyone think how high or low Danny Nelson ceiling is...we have to start somewhere. No more over 30 yr old players!
Miller turns 32 in March and has 5 years left on his contract. He will be a UFA when he turns 37. NHL players are still productive from 32 to 35 - some even later.

And if the team is planning to sign free agents, how old do you think these players usually are 29 to 32, 33...

The offseason market will not be very good especially - Ehlers is the only realistic target that is unlikely when other NHL markets come knocking on the door.

My proposal was essentially upgrading Nelson (and getting 2 years younger) while also keeping their own 1st, and 2nd, and receiving future picks or prospects for Palmieri.

Re: your 2nd point, I think that if Lou stays as GM, that kind of deal might be the best that we could hope for. Maybe he'll change stripes, but I don't see him dealing for pure futures. I could see him dealing Nelson for a younger player who can step right into the lineup. Hopefully not just 2 years younger though!

Re: Ehlers, is there anything out there about the likelihood that he might re-sign with them this summer, or is he considered a goner? WPG is slim at C - would it be crazy to consider a UFA for UFA deal around Nelson for Ehlers? Might require extensions to make it happen, and not sure either/both would be willing to do that. Just spit balling.

Never thought about a Nelson for Ehlers swap. My guess would be Jets ball because Ehlers has been a huge part of their success and might not want subtract from roster, especially someone who transports the puck like he does.

I did see something about Jets shelving any resigning talk for now - I’ll try to find it.

Is it goaltending?
