Roster/Rumors/Speculation/Trade Talk - 2024-25: Re-Tool, Re-Group, Re-Mix, Re-Build

  • Xenforo Cloud is doing server maintenance Thurdsay 13th at 9 AM GMT. Downtime is to be expected during the process. Server changes were implemented recently to cope with the traffic surge last week. This seems to be affecting the user login, so please anyone experiencing this, log out and clear the browser cache. We expect to have this issue solved once the maintenance is complete.
  • We are currently aware of "log in/security error" issues that are affecting some users. We apologize and ask for your patience as we try to get these issues fixed.
Hutton and George were pretty bad last night. No idea why George got the yank. George sometimes makes poor decisions with the puck, but Hutton looks like he doesn't even know where to go. The Kempe goal he just stopped following his guy, and he left a forward open in front of the net causing a Butchie "Look out" but luckily the puck never got over there.

but we already had a 5'8 russian who was too small to play in the NHL :sarcasm:
Yea agree, I think it was more about opportunity than anything else. When Iskhakov was coming up there was basically no lineup turnover for 3 years. Starting now to the next 2 years there could/should be a lot of changes. Would love to take a shot on this guy. Plus his production compared to Iskhakov now is just on a different level.

Yea, Ruslan has hands and is shifty but doesn't have the speed like Shabanov has. Isles grabbed a 25yr old strong physical russian now go get the small speedy skilled 24yr old russian and ship out the old guys :thumbu:

Because George is 20 and Hutton is 29. There’s no point in trying to develop Hutton, he’s AHL fodder.

There are three things to consider as the team approaches 2 games against the Hawks.
  1. If they can take both games - regulation - the team will be over 500 with Pelech, Duke, and Barzal back for Carolina next week. If they cannot beat on this team or at least win both - it should further cement into the minds of leadership that selling is the way to go.
  2. Look closely at Ryan Donato - he has become their 2C - pending UFA and only makes 2m. He is Ted Donato's kid. The addition of say Donato would allow the team to ice a competent top 12. The hope would be to move pending RFA and former top pick Oliver Wahlstrom
  3. Look for Hogberg to start one of these games against Chicago... if there is ever a game to see what they have in the veteran goalie it is this weekend. Could be the start of seeing if the team could move on from Varlamov - Washington and Colorado are prime candidates for a goalie this deadline. Two of Varly's former teams.

Agree with everything until the last sentence. I don’t think there’s any chance they move on from varly this year
