Leetch lived in Manhattan
That was it I think, not Graves. I just remembered there being mention only one guy lived there in either 93 or 94

Hey don't shoot the messenger. It could be worse. We could be Winnepeg.
99.9% of NHL players put Winnepeg on their no trade list.
In regards to NYI Fan Central I have no idea where that is. I imagine for the locals it must be some rat hole like the White Castle in West Hempstead.
It's very complicated, and I don't know that it makes all that much sense to compare the decisions these people make about schools with the decisions that ordinary folks make. And so little has to do with actual governmental politics. Here's what I mean:Most players don’t really care about the politics of the city they live in since often they can just live in a suburb or their wealth is big enough bad policies won’t impact their pockets. Also I think NHLers as a whole are more liberal than MLBers. No doubt in MLB it’s become apparent in the last couple years many guys are strongly conservative which in some cases has impacted where they sign. Brandon Nimmo for example despite strong interest from the Giants evidently wouldn’t even talk to them and some say deGrom left NY because his wife wasn’t loving the schools or politics here
Or signs with us for the league minimum. If the NYR trade for Kane, hopefully they have to give up a 1st and a prospect. And then they get knocked out in the 1st round. And during contract negotiations following the season they're 20 cents apart and Kane hauls off and punches Dolan and then signs back with CHI.
Is that too much to ask?
I went to a great many games at the garden when the Blue seats were in all there glory, being an Islander fan I sat quietly . My buddy had seasons and often had extra tickets I'd go, as I would go watch pee-wees if I had nothing to do. We recently saw something reminiscent of the old blue seats when the guy from SI knock out a fan after the game in the promenade cant recall what team he was a fan of but that's what The Garden and the Spectrum were like back then . And IMO Islander fans have always been choir boys its been family friendly for ages.Tell me when Rangers fans become so well-heeled. I may be older than you and I remember vividly sitting in the blue seats at the Garden watching Rags games starting around 1979. Those nasty bastards, your "greaseballs" made today's Islanders fan seem like choirboys.
One waits for the winter to end in Winnipeg until one recalls that the other season is mosquitos.Funny. Winnipeg is on the top of my list for hockey trips next year.
That "home of the NY rangers" sign is still there.I saw several new pages in this thread since yesterday and thought maybe there was a dippin' dots sighting.
I'm old enough to remember when most of the NYRs lived in Long Beach.
And practiced at Long Beach Arena on Magnolia. I would take the LIRR there and watch them during training camp, I also think they used Skateland as a practice rink as well . Owned by Bill Chadwick at the time.I saw several new pages in this thread since yesterday and thought maybe there was a dippin' dots sighting.

Who are you kidding! You’re old enough to remember the Glacier that dumped Long Island where it is!I saw several new pages in this thread since yesterday and thought maybe there was a dippin' dots sighting.

Absolutely. Me and my friends also never got a warm reception from the Bruins fans in the early 80s. Used to look over my shoulder at Boston Garden to make sure we didn’t get beer thrown at us. Same thing in Hartford.I went to a great many games at the garden when the Blue seats were in all there glory, being an Islander fan I sat quietly . Professional athletes can afford to live here comfortably although they will be taxed a lot more. As far as the working class well there is a reason why many are leaving. Politics is corrupt on all sides so i don’t really pay attention to it.Most players don’t really care about the politics of the city they live in since often they can just live in a suburb or their wealth is big enough bad policies won’t impact their pockets. Me too. I'm such a weirdo because I actually want to go to Winnipeg. The way Teemu Selanne and Eddie Olczyk talk about it though makes me think it's not as bad as people think it is.Funny. Winnipeg is on the top of my list for hockey trips next year.
The Museum of Human Rights alone is worth the trip.Funny. Winnipeg is on the top of my list for hockey trips next year.
Okay, that was a Moraine-ic joke.Who are you kidding! You’re old enough to remember the Glacier that dumped Long Island where it is!
Lol. I remember in elementary school when learning/reading about moraines… Long Island was the always used as an example.Okay, that was a Moraine-ic joke.
[a little geology humor]

So Rags get Kane, make their charmin top 6 even softer.
All will be well in Isles land when Lou lands Domi and Chychrun
My father used to beat up their kids. Always hated the rangers. He was a flyers fan before the isles existed and then became an isles fan. He still loves Dave Schultz though.I saw several new pages in this thread since yesterday and thought maybe there was a dippin' dots sighting.

Lol… see between this, keying cars and getting knocked up in a car at the Coliseum parking lot… what’s all this talk about classless Isles fans!My father used to beat up their kids. Times Square, Alphabet City and the northern tips of Manhattan (and obviously sections of the boroughs) were certainly rough in the 70's and 80's but not really accurate to label the entire city as "extremely dangerous." Especially for a wealthy hockey player who could afford to live in the hundreds of exclusive, ultra-luxurious apartment buildings of the UWS and UES.I’m not sure about now but Larry Brooks reported two years ago that only two players and one coach didn’t live in Manhattan. This was a huge difference from 1994 when evidently Graves was the only guy who lived in the city on the entire team. I assume the fact the city was extremely dangerous in the 70s and 80s likely contributed to it but not sure as many guys live in WChester or Jersey as we think might
World famous arena, original 6 team, panache of playing in NYC...I mean, it should be obvious why players want to go to the Rags. It has nothing to do with the fans.
Kapanen is decent. I think it’s the pens trying to clear cap for Chychrun maybeLol… see between this, keying cars and getting knocked up in a car at the Coliseum parking lot… what’s all this talk about classless Isles fans!
Also, Kasperi Kapanen on waivers. If I recall, several posters were higher on him than some Isles. I think though it kind of shows how many players look better from afar or worse up close*
