See, my worry is that we know what KK brings. We've seen enough of Roslovic this year to get what he brings

If THEY'RE the pieces of a Miller trade, what's wrong with Miller that that's all it's going to take?
Personnel clash/locker room character issue is what the noise has been about. This would make it the third time he’s been moved on so there’s probably a difficult personality to work with there, but you also can’t ignore the Canucks special brand of dysfunction in the matter. Personally think with Rod and the team culture here I’d take the bet on bringing who plays hard as hell and maybe runs too hot some times.

Because there’s a limited market for what teams can take on his full contract and what players that can help the Canucks now not futures. Also has a NMC and is said to prefer eastern USA so the market shrinks. Canucks know they aren’t gonna win this deal

Let’s be real about how dry the market is for any high end talent, and just how much of a drop off you face regarding any 2C option that isn’t Miller. We’ve been coming home after shopping empty handed and looking at the Kotkaniemi we have at home believing things aren’t that bad. Miller is a PPG 1C level talent who plays a legitimate power forward game and is a beast on faceoffs. Unlike his teammate Pettersson he makes an amount of money that is representative of what he brings to the table. Will his play drop off by the end of his contract? Sure. Will it happen before we’d all be happy with if he was traded here? Probably. I’m tired of feeling like the Canes playing the roster building game like it’s the game you need to win and if they make the call to go grab the maverick who can absolutely tip the scale in your favor in the mid term i’m all for it.

Where are you hearing that? This is the 2nd post you've mentioned Vancouver wanting to get Roslovic from us.

KK+ Roslovic isn't bad. Question is if there'd be a plus, and if so, what?
Canucks reporter did a hit on sportsnet show and mentioned it again can’t find the link but said van tried to get Roslovic from Columbus before and they’ve like KK for some time

After this organization managed to make TDA look like a choir boy (to his standards, at least) to the point where we got a 2nd, 3rd, 4th for him *and* got him a $10 million contract from Philly, I think we’d be able to handle JT Miller.

It might be bias/delusion, but I think we’re one of the few organizations that can not worry about having locker room issues. If the FO thinks he’s a fit, I think they’ve earned the benefit of the doubt.

KK+ seems like a good trade for Miller but team age is beginning to creep up. We used to be a young, quick, exciting team and were entertaining even when losing. Now not so much.

Our best trades have been youngish, players with term. Not convinced in a win now trade.. again..

If we trade KK for Miller, I only think we give up the “young” in your list.

Pretty sure Gold has said other stuff "ain't happening" and they did.
I’ve seen him miss the mark on contract amounts and terms but not so much on deals and trades. Why be so adamant given his attachment to the team and role?

Mostly, what I notice is that there doesn’t seem to be a great need for change nor much concern being conveyed by those closest to the organization at this juncture. Granted, they all typically sing from the same hymn sheet quite well as an organization whether it be Tulsky, MM, Tripp, RBA, etc. so it’s hard to know exactly. JW’s tone last night made it seem like there’s some work to be done from within the group in place rather than big needs to addressed by new faces.

I’m gonna take Freidman and the Canucks reporters word over Adam Gold lol. Canes are in on every big name guy we know that so they’ve definitely called and if it fits their price they wanna pay then why not be in on it?
There’s more than one reason to be “in on it” besides actual acquisition. What’s the success rate been besides Guentzel? Lots of folks window shop and make low bids at auctions.

If Carolina wasn't interested in signing Miller to that contract, and wasn't interested in a long-term contract that will age poorly when it was longer and the player was younger, why would they be interested as the player ages?

Vancouver isn't retaining on Miller. I don't see the Miller's price making sense to Tulsky long-term, even if he wants to move out Kotkaniemi.

To raise the price of the player when other divisional rivals (such as the Rangers and Devils) are apparently “in” on the deal.

The more Gold talks the more it's clear he doesn't really have any sources. When he's saying things he's just going based off gut feelings, and quite a lot of the time you have to wonder how someone with as little hockey sense as he has was able to get into a somewhat prominent role for the Canes radio presentation.

Potential reason: you've now got more proof of concept that Miller will age into the contract better than was previously expected. At the time you thought he was getting paid for a career year coming out of the 21-22 season, and since then he's put up 2 ppg seasons including a career high 103 points last year. He's grown into the contract pretty well.

Not to mention, $8m doesn't have the same pearl-clutching reputation today that it did in 2022. Perfectly reasonable for an elite 2C which Miller is.
