The team rightfully sees it has a 5 year window with Panarin here. They are no longer planning for 3-5 years down the road. No more half measures.

In 5 Years, Panarin/Trouba/Eichel will all be UFA, potentially Igor as well. In 6 years Kreider & Goodrow are off the books. Laf/Kakko/Fox/Miller are all here and cost peanuts right now. Guess how many current Rangers were on the team 5 years ago? Just 1. Time to go for it.

Buch, Chytil, Georgiev, Jones 15th OA for Eichel

Strome for Reaves & McNabb

Sign Coleman for 5 x 5

Kreider-Zibanejad-Kravtsov
Lafreniere-Eichel-Kakko
Panarin-Goodrow-Coleman
Barron-Rooney-Reaves
Blackwell

Lindgren-Fox
Miller-Trouba
McNabb-Lundkvist
Bitetto

Shesterkin
Kinkaid

This is an instant contender, with cap space to spare to add depth on D or a veteran backup goalie. Gallant can roll 3 separate lines with Panarin/Mika/Eichel like PIT did with Crosby/Malkin/Kessel during their B2B Cups. In 2022-2023, there is space to sign Fox and Mika(or a cheaper replacement if his ask is to high). Kakko/Kravtsov will get squeezed as pre-Arb RFAs because thats what contending teams do.

I might be in the minority but I don't thiink Fox gets a Heiskanen type deal. His deal is closer to Kreiders.

p.s. - Not because he doesn't deserve it.

They won't bridge Lafreniere either.

And might? Fox is going to get a substantial deal.

Right Fox (if he wants it) is the only one who is going to not b bridged, its just how the Rangers do business (for better or worse). Their deals recently not bridged have all been defenseman

All this talk about Eichel. I have gone back and forth on this but I am back in the no camp on him.

Isn't there a chance he could miss this season with an injury? There's no way we can move Buch for him if that's the case.

Even if he doesn't miss this season, I'm still in the no camp.

Out:

Assets to acquire Eichel - something in the neighborhood of Buch, Chytil, 15 OA, and one of Kravtsov/Lundqvist

Zibanejad (self rental since we have the cap room this season and we will most likely at least be a WC team with Eichel/Zib down the middle - so we'll have him for a season and then he walks to UFA)

Strome

In:

Eichel

Return for Strome (late 1st and a meh prospect)

Doesn't look like good asset management to me.

More ice time+PP time+No Quinn = steady 60-70 point scorer by the end of his ELC. You lock that up long term as he grows so you don't pay extra as he gets even better.
