Full NMC's are a cost of signing upper echelon players. You won't sign ANYONE that's worth a shit without them. This goes back to my realism argument - you aren't being realistic. Eichel trade fell through and didn't happen and the Rangers were locking up a top ~20 center, on a decent contract, for years. The full NMC is part of why he wasn't paid even MORE.
He's not "dealable", doesn't want to be dealt, and finished strong. I agree - hopefully he puts this shit season behind him and has his shit together. That would be best for everyone.
And again I think you undervalue Kreider and what he'll return. You did that with Lindgren and with Trouba. The assets that will come back in a Kreider trade will surprise you. He's got the easiest contract to move that has a significant cap hit attached to it and, by reports, the two sides seem to be ready to move in different directions.
Only Zib's sorry ass can decide if his sorry ass has to go. And, as previously stated, he's still a productive player. I'm not happy with last season but I'm not writing off the rest of his career.
Garand needs to start here as a backup after Quick hangs it up - WAY too much pressure on a young goalie. Most crumble under the pressure and you have a better goalie already in Shesterkin.

disagree
Maybe you won't get the very very highest
but you will get many incl sufficiently high
mo important, you break the cycle
as to Eich, the key there was he properly insisted on a special surgical procedure. There was risk and Sabes wanted suitor to absorb all risk
It was a gamble that paid off for vegas, but it could easily not have

He's dealable at a certain #
Whether or not he wants to be here depends on certain conditions and they can be changed
And NO, he did not finish strong -- some improved scoring totals, yes, but < min effort, no engagement, pissport defense

I said it only takes one so you may be right, and wherever he is I hope his health returns
but on paper, no one should pay upfront

Disagree
1. he can be nudged til he breaks
2. he is not that productive
3, he is entering downside not upside
4. move on for reasons stated

Gar as backup would be pref, but that is not an option.
After whatev that target day is, that's it, then Shesty has full control
And you are 111% ignoring what Shesty returns
