My ideal NYR roster for at least next season:

Panarin - Trochek - Peterka
Cuylle - Miller - Zibanejad
Berard/Parsinnen - Suter - Perrault
Edstrom - Carrick - Rempe/Parsinnen
Byram - Fox
Miller - Schneider
Soucy - Borgen
Shesterkin

Lafreniere + Othmann + 2nd/3rd for Buffalo’s guys. Pius Suter as a UFA. Kreider for a solid prospect and a 2nd.

I mean, i guess but i don't see why people hate Drury for that. These guys are all smug millionaires, can any of us really relate to them? I just hope for the best but it's the Rangers, dumb shit happens all the time.
I'm not saying it's right or wrong. Fans react that way. Tom Poti was hated here because he was traded for a homegrown favorite in Mike York, and because he was soft as an example.

The fans loved Ryan Callahan. He was one of us and the Mookie Wilson of the Rangers.

Personally, I don't think Drury's done a bad job given he has a President's Trophy and two trips to the ECF. He also got rid of my buddy Mark Ciaccao.

Drury's grand opus will be based on his roster decisions this summer and next summer, and how his draft picks turn out.

I agree. These next couple of summers will tell us all we need to know about Drury

I could see a scenario where Brind’Amour cites burnout and retires from the bench for a year or two.
It’s funny I always pictured him being their Lindy Ruff/Barry Trotz and coaching them for 20 plus years. But maybe you’re right

Peterka would be one of the last players I would trade if I am the Sabres.

People need to stop believing every rumor and ask does this make any sense at all for the team trading the player. I Rangers need Cuylle types. Power forwards. Not another finesse skilled undersized forward. Signing another vet forward. I like Suter as a player and would take him if Carrick is not here. Rangers need a Drake Batherson type. A power forward with size in the top 6 that plays consistently physical. Batherson would be the player id target. Maybe Lafy and Edstrom for Batherson and Greig?

Sorry but it’s not hate. It’s evaluation.

I think this is all you are getting from KAM. I think the ship has sailed on him ever returning to forward.

Yes, his tools are evident. From what I’ve seen, the toolbox is lacking.

I don’t think he will be sold on the cheap. He will bring a strong return. I’ve said this all along. He represents Drury’s best chance to fleece another team in a trade.
respectful disagree
room for improvement sure
underlying causes can be addressed/overcome = it is not a matter of intellect

he's trying too much
not in sync w/partners
system

all these and more are factors

tools are too good to ditch
and if somehow we got nuf D overnight, this guy is mid 6 material to start

I gotta be overwhelmed to move him esp if long term rfa $$ contract/term

But, how often do teams trade a 22 year old 1C, never. Kopitar is on his last year, did you consider that your thought would leave the Kings without a 1C? No. Since C is the most coveted position, there is no way the Kings are moving Byfield.

I've been saying the same thing for months. Some of his crap makes absolutely no sense and is completely unrealistic for both teams.

There are two Corey Perry's during his career. He was a literal 50 goal scorer that reinvented himself. You know what I was saying without me explaining this, don't be dense...

I think he's still got a point. Tanev is a lot closer to Goodrow than current Perry too.

But even ignoring player quality I don't think theres really a fit. I'm not really on board with burning dollars on 4th line players.

I get wanting to add more players with that mentality, but that shift really needs to happen higher in the lineup. That impact isn't going to really be anything significant when you're just re shaping your 4th line/bottom pair.

Name one player other than Perrault he's drafted who screams skill or offensive talent. Doesn't exist.

You know me and I'm not gonna say things that are loved, but I'm sure as hell gonna back it up with numbers or evidence.

Drury doesn’t unilaterally draft the players on his own. He’s just following the recommendations from the scouts and such. He’s not the one out there traveling and watching each player many times.

I don’t hate this

I still think Panarin needs to go though.

I do CK for M Bourque+ and move an extended Panarin amd Jones to VGK for Barbashev and Hague. Might have to trade Soucy to make the cap work

Cuylle Tro Peterka
Barbashev Miller Zbad
Parsnips Bourque Berard
Roobroeck Carrick Edstrom
(Brodz, Rempe, Perrault)

Hague Fox
Byram Schneider
Miller Borgen
(Vaak, Soucy)

If the rumors are true and he will not sign long term the Sabres may decide it’s time to get a longer term asset for him rather than letting him walk to UFA. You also better believe that they are trying to get a handle on their locker room. Guys who don’t want to be there are going to be shuttled out. That team has skill. Something is wrong. It’s a good time to pounce on players who may be available who normally wouldn’t be. Byram and Peterka are good examples

If drury does trade kreider I think St. Louis makes a ton of sense. Drury has linked up with the blues on a couple of deals. They have a bunch of prospects that can help out nyr depth and are closer to nhl ready(dvorsky, jehco, jiricek, lindstein, etc…) they have a late first in this draft and some salary that can be sent back (Joseph, leddy, texier) which saves nyr 2-4 mil in cap. Plus I doubt kreider has stl on his nt list

Part of the problem with shuffling guys who “don’t want to be there” is that you may be selling low or not getting equal value in return. And you may purge the room of the most talented players.
Buffalo is a cursed org right now and the way the team consistently collapses you probably have to completely rebuild.

I think because Drury as a player here had the personality of a sloth, and he's very corporate and uptight is why people dislike him. He's not the "yeah I'd get a beer with him" kind of guy.

He also prefers very unspectacular meat and potatoes players who don't have much flash. So there's a lack of excitement.
Is that why he brought in Kane and Tarasenkp against Gallant's wishes ? Gallant let him know about those moves before the playoffs started over dinner when Gallant informed him they would not stand up for one another.....and he was absolutely right ...Gallant that is . They should have kept him and deleted a few guys and we might have had a Cup by now . Remember...Turk took an expansion club without big star talent into the Cup Finals.....

LOL...Drury using Dolan money thanked the guy mostly responsiible for those playoff runs with the lengthy deal . Shesty says hello ! Without Shesty here Drury would be managing an AHL club somewhere . Buchnevich WOOF !!! Nemeth DOUBLE WOOF !!!

What about this

Lafreniere + Schneider for Byram + Peterka + 2nd

Panarin for Zegras + Mintyukov + 2nd ‘25 + 2nd ‘26

Kreider + Jones for Crouse ($1m retained) + 2nd ‘25 + 2nd ‘26

Cuylle-Miller-Zibanejad
Zegras-Trochek-Peterka
Crouse-Parsinnen-Berard/Othmann
Edstrom-Carrick-Rempe

Byram-Fox
Miller-Borgen
Mintyukov-Soucy
Vaak

Any noticable UFA that might gain interest after a tournament like this? Didnt Zuccarello get noticed because of this tournament before he was on the Rangers? Low risk types that might work.
