Every team needs guys to fill out the bottom of the lineup. As long as Schneider can be a solid 3rd pair guy who maybe can spot-fill in on the 2nd pair, that's great IMO.I know most on here are not big Schneider fans but I am not trading a guy who has been reliable and hasn't missed any games for another guy with concussion issues. We just traded our best young player because of this and I am not willing to take a risk for another guy with concussion issues.
It's equally fine if all he is, is a 3rd pair guy. Again every team needs to fill our their roster top to bottom, and the goal is (or should be) to have solid players throughout the lineup. Not every player has to be forced into bigger roles just because they've stayed on a team for more than 2 years. I feel like it's a typical expectation that players are supposed to move up, otherwise they have to be traded because then they're looked at as bad players because they can't play above their skill level.
If they are good on the 3rd pair, then it should be just as good to keep them there and find a guy who is capable of playing against stronger competition.
