Speculation: Roster Building Thread: Part XX (WTF are we going to do this Off-Season edition)

I can be more fun when you can be more honest

"In the past couple of years, you've started more aggressively asserting that you very much are the smartest person in the room."
== this is an extrapolation by you NOT something I actually said/asserted

"There's zero proof of how effective that would have been in the long run"
Setting aside fun hypotheticals of how effective one of my suggestions would or would not have been, I can claim victory on the grounds that R mgmt decisions WERE IN FACT ACTUAL FAILURE

but setting that aside, peeps forget I was for trading Buch at max value while he had term, not doing what they did and self renting until due to min term his value w/rfa was a sliver of what max return could have been
-- many variations on a theme but we could have had Broberg

"Please drop the Boo Nieves conversation. I'm being nicer than most people here when I say that it comes off as, "See? Even when I'm wrong, I'm right. And if you think I was wrong, you're double wrong."
Your attempt at word salad to confuse things will not prevail
Peeps are right or wrong on the merits
only ? is to what extent that can be measured ie subjective compared to objective

There is no ?, and there can never be any ?, that yes, bern's experiment MIGHT have failed, BUT THAT LOSES IN DEFEAT to Rs failure to experiment did not work, so was ACTUAL failure

again just be honest
don't make me go Billy Joel on yr ass

You accusing anyone of a word salad is rich. 🤣

Yes, AT THE VERY END, I said we would be lucky to get a 7th and not have to pay to move him. So in a vacuum, isolated and not 111% representative of my position, that was correct.
BUT THE OVERRIDING AND DOMINANT FACTOR that the whole board knows is I have been pushing them to trade Lindgren for a good 3-4 years

Go to the corner, admit your shame, return when you are willing to be honest, not deceitful.

I was talking about THE VERY END and you were VERY WRONG.

Nothing deceitful about it. You crashed and burned on that one. But, accepting responsibility for your mistakes is a real problem for you. You'd fit right in the current Rangers locker room.

or that b'c playing w/4th line turds and not having a chance w/any talent
despite I think we had a 2nd invested in him...

or AGAIN, pay attention, BEND BUCKLE AND BREAK AND SPEAK THE TRUTH don't cherry pick facts
Boo played w/concussions -> why he retired early

Very late 2nd round pick that most projected to be a bottom six forward and that's exactly what he was.

Keep making excuses though.

EF would be shocked if Jack Eichel doesn’t re-sign with Vegas. It will be a grind. It will get done.

Been saying this for the better part of a year. McDavid and Eichel will never hit free agency. They'll either sign or be part of a trade & sign. Players like this almost never hit the market.

Relying on them to be available as part of a plan moving forward is bad management.

Why be obtuse when the whole board knows that is not the way to be and win on merits?

I SAID very end, that was the case.
We were lucky to not have to pay bal of his 4.5 salary

Pt remains, bern said repeatedly, get something for this guy before he totally falls apart

It IS completely DECEITFUL by you to pretend I never went there to create false illusion you are right overall.
Just speak the truth: bern said we should have sold high on Lindgren coupla seasons back, and he was right

No thanks on Provo.

I don't hate that 2nd pair at all.

I'll take Jones over Tony. Heck, I'd take de Haan over Tony if Soucy wasn't here.

I find Tony annoying, but I think he deserves a 6/7D spot on some team before his NHL window closes. Just not this one.
Tony is worlds better than jones and dehaan, has that prick in him on the ice this team is lacking, comes at a bargain aav and is extremely well liked by teammates. Because you find him annoying due to issues that have zero to do with hockey fortunately doesnt matter

That's what he was b'c:
1.) x factor of Concussions
2.) he
was
NEVER
given
ANY
opportunity
WHATSOEVER
to
play
w/ANY
talent
that
was
not
a black hole
on offense.

Let's not waste time. You don't misrepresent, I won't have to correct represent

NO, the fact I insisted we deal him years early made me correct then,
AND
if we had dealt him THEN
there would never have been a scenario where he was finally moved last season

THIS IS DIRECT CAUSE AND EFFECT.
STOP PRETENDING THAT IS NOT THE CASE

No, we had a specific conversation about that post at the time where I bet you that he would return a lot more. He did. You were wrong.

The one trying to deceive here is YOU.

He is what everyone, except you, thought he was. It’s really that simple.

reasons are relevant
you dismissing that, refusing to acknowledge
nominates you for Mr. irrelevant

What was the reason you said Lindgren would return a 7th without salary retention? I'll wait until tomorrow. And, regardless, you were wrong.

Same thing with Nieves.

You can make excuses, aka "reasons", all you want but you were WRONG about this and a whole lot of other crap.

The difference between most of us and you, however, is that we own up to it and you just compose 150 word answers that say if this, if that, what if, why that, etc... instead of acknowledging what actually happened.

Just man up and "whoops" it like the rest of us. I make mistakes all the time. :P

Good night to you as well.

For D I’m going
Provorov or Gavrikov / Fox
Miller / Borgen
Vaak, Schneider
Cheap spare ufa

Trading Soucy and Jones for picks

Not totally shocked if Miller or Schneider gets moved in a bold move but I’d like them back

Mika and Kreider out. Tavares and Marchand in. Would move Panarin to facilitate that as well. I know JT and Marchy are older but they are shooters. Something we dont have. Would be good vets to have around our young wingers.

All jokes aside, it will be very interesting to see what the Leafs do this offseason. They have kicked it back with minor tweaks for the past 7 or so seasons and they've got past round 1 twice (i think?).

They have around $70M committed to 15 players and have to re-up Knies who will likely get between $6-7M depending on length of contract.

They have longer term contracts on some D who are not good at all. Not sure if they try to shuffle that around.

We know JT I gone. I wouldn't be shocked if they let Marner go and redistribution that cap for better D and 2nd/3rd line forwards.

It won't happen, but a K. Miller+ (say Othmann) for Knies would work for both teams based on needs

A team more skilled than us just got dominated in game 7, while going 10% on the powerplay through-out the series. Winning is hard.
