Speculation: Roster Building Thread: Part XX (WTF are we going to do this Off-Season edition)

If it’s not Guhle, nothing else that would help this team makes sense

Lafreniere for Guhle is the only thing that makes sense and it would free the Rangers up to trade Kandre or Schneider, possibly for a young center. It would be a complicated series of moves. Id probably want more than just Guhle just to save face on trading our only 1OA ever.

Why be obtuse when the whole board knows that is not the way to be and win on merits?

I SAID very end, that was the case.
We were lucky to not have to pay bal of his 4.5 salary

Pt remains, bern said repeatedly, get something for this guy before he totally falls apart

It IS completely DECEITFUL by you to pretend I never went there to create false illusion you are right overall.
Just speak the truth: bern said we should have sold high on Lindgren coupla seasons back, and he was right
I have found in life that anyone who continually refers to them self in the 3rd person is not someone who can be taken very seriously.

Reinbacher is damaged goods, operated several times on his knee
yes no ? but that makes him from totally unaviable to possibly justified risk, and I think it is at least something on both knees
I could be wrong but this is a better gamble than guys like Ekblad + Byram etc having serious multiple concussions, from which htankfully the've recovered

They won't trade Laf.

Unless of course Drury wants to make it clear that he is brash, unprepared, and unwilling to trade the guys that need to be moved.

listen to george Harrison's I, Me, Mine, and get over the use of artistic license
should I instead be 111% uber egotistical all the time and exclusively refer to myself in 1st person only?

Florida, Edmonton and Dallas arent young. I care more about contract terms and production than age.
Both can be true.
73% of goals scored for Florda through-out round 2 came from players under 30. 80% came from players 30 and under.
69% of goals scored for Dallas through-out round 2 came from players under 30.
Edmonton is a bit of a different story as it was their over 30 depth players that came through. Like Perry and Henrique.

I think both are equally important, especially if you can get that production from older depth players, not players you're throwing a ton of cap at.

Serious question I would ask myself if I was Sully or Drury.

Could CK or Zibs play on Florida at this point in their careers?

They have been very good players but at their age do they have it in them to skate as hard, hit as much, defend as solidly to be a part of Floridas team?

I mean honestly, this goes way back before FLA last season... it goes back before Tampa & it goes back to CAR & PITT 3 yrs back.

We've NOT been close no matter what management felt or what the players felt or what the fans felt.

If we lost to Pitt I don't think we keep up with the charade as long but who knows?

It does. The Rangers had the horses to get them to the conference finals but not enough to get them past. I’d note that Tampa, Florida, Vegas are also teams that manipulate the cap to deepen their playoff rosters quite a lot. We’ve never done that.

What a game last night. All the while I'm thinking... the Panthers make moves that the Rangers refuse to do. Grabbing Marchand and Jones literally put the icing on the cake for that Panthers team. Just reminded me of the pathetic quarter (not even half) measures the Rangers come up with during the TDL and off-season. Never any bold or daring chances to make this team better.

Cam Fowler was quite a grab too for St. Louis. The JT Miller trade was a win for the Rangers but, honestly, there was no deadline magic that was going to save this team. They mailed in the season the way Toronto mailed in game 7 last night. Toronto has a lot more to be happy about this year than the Rangers do.

The problem with trading Laf for Guhle is that Laf is much better at playing hockey.

We need to reset the lockerroom and see what guys rise to the top before we start moving young players. I'm expecting Laf to be one of those guys.

Laf has been linked to Montreal a million times going back to before he was drafted. They are obsessed with him because he's French Canadian. If his name was John Smith, they wouldn't have any interest.
but his name isnt john smith and they could specifically have more interest in him because of the Montreal connection

also their gm drafted him ;)

Im not endorsing trading Lafreniere, just speculating what a deal with the Habs might look like. However, im not convinced Lafreniere is one of those guys who will distinguish himself in the locker room. He folded after signing a new contract this year, when the team most needed him to rise above. He needs to prove himself as far as im concerned.
