Bennett would be goodrow signing only 10x worse. The problem with Bennet isn't that we would have to overpay. Sam Bennett, more often than not, has found a way to be productive during the playoffs. Teams will want that. We're going to have to overpay no matter what. Ideally you would like to be able to find them in the draft or make a smart trade that works in your favor, but if you can't, free agency is your only shot at landing them.
The problem with acquiring Bennet is that we don't have the pieces in place for him to do his thing, so he's going to be forced into playing a game where he won't be as effective. When Panarin is gone and Zibanejad struggles, are we tossing Bennett on the ice to be our hero? I don't see it working. But not because of the money.
And I was told that nobody here wanted Bennet and his contract.![]()
Rongos “development” track tends to have that effect .I will need to see Gabe in camp. The Gabe I saw so far really should spend some time in the AHL. Hopefully he has a good summer and can change my mind on that.
I don't want him to be overwhelmed by NHL speed and size if he is not ready. Id be thrilled if he is ready but I will wait and see in training camp. He is young and thin. Also did seem a step or two slow in his brief stay here. Always fun to have a new player but I can be patient.Rongos “development” track tends to have that effect .

I think he had a few bright moments. Some of the opening nights for good and bad can be about adrenaline. What I saw was about size and speed (slow first step specifically) so it was not related to confidence or coaches. If Gabe is ready to play in the NHL that would be great but many good players spent time in the AHL. He just turned 20 this week. I do not want to overwhelm him.I thought he looked good in the first game. He was going to net. Looked active and made a couple of nice passes. Then Lavy pulled the Rangers special. It doesn't take long for our coaches to mess with their confidence.
I think this summarizes why a true rebuild... like a REAL one is neededMachine is underrating Trocheck a bit, but he's right that Miller-Tro doesn't set us apart from the pack as a 1-2 combo which is why we need a sterling third line.
A lt of you have good plans to sign a big UFA or make a big trade for a LD and that's good and needed. But we really need both.
1) 3 lines of great depth
2) A new top 2 left D
In order for me to even start to think of considering us a comptitive roster next year. I've yet to see proposals that can do both these things in one offseason, which is not a cause for optimism.
What I wouldn't give for a random Kevin Hayes freebie to descend from heaven and give us an instant rookie ELC contributor in the top 9. Still praying that in the right situation Othmann could give us 20-20 from a solid scoring third line next year. I think that will require a good center, and perhaps one more quality wing on the 3rd as well.
Also... "Ain't nobody signing McDavid. Go on, git"

College is a good training ground but the leap to the NHL is substantial. Keep in mind McD, Zooks, Kreider, Hagelin, Fast, etc all spent time in the AHL before being ready and Gabe only spent 2 years (around 70 games total) in college. I'm not saying Gabe has to spend time in the AHL but lets wait and see how he looks in the fall and then we can make that decision. When I say we I mean myself and the coaching staff.Fair enough, but I'm not sure that he had that issue in college. Maybe he was just being tentative or thinking too much. He had to play against better/faster players, so definitely an adjustment for him. I don't mind if he starts out in the AHL either.
World Championships:
Parssinen had a goal yesterday for Finland. Sykora had an assist today. Garand didn't play (he played yesterday) for Canada. Cuylle didn't have any points.
Zib has 3 goals in 2 games so far.
Parssinen plays in a bit.
We better pay him or somebody else will.Tired: Bennett is the next Goodrow contract
Wired: Bennett is the next Zibanejad contract
Just pay Cuylle. He’s Bennett without the headshots.
You never know...he could be good

"France"
I'd take him. YES he gets tagged with a lot of dirty hits. But he's in the Cuylle camp of qualities we need more of. We need his flavor of competition, drive, grit. I like how he went after Zadorov late in the season. No hesitation.I do not. I want nothing to do with that prick.
Yeah but I think one or two rounds of playoff revenue is all they aim for.More playoff games tend to do that…

There is hard, expensive work to get past that. And most teams really don’t care as long as they get that playoff round or two of revenue.
He's the next Kakko.Parssinen got the game winning goal in OT to lift Finalnd over France.
He's the next Kakko.
