Speculation: Roster Building Thread: Part XX (WTF are we going to do this Off-Season edition)

I mean the team hasn't had someone who can clear the front of the net since I dunno maaaaaaaybe Girardi in his early years

not really a ton of good crease clearers in the NHL today beause it's not quite something that exists in the game the way it used to. You can't just maul someone all game long without getting called for a lot of penalties.

Tying up sticks properly tends to achieve similar success these days
MCD was pretty solid in front. Staal had his moments as well. Often it takes some strength and size to tie up the bigger guys sticks especially if they get position on you.

I dont see where the big improvements are coming personnel wise on defense this summer. The Rangers only have 1 d-man under contract over 30 years old (Soucy). They do have upside we just need a system that limits their weakness (zone defense) and forwards who care about backchecking.

Wherever the Rangers first rounder lands tonight, I think Drury will try hard to use it to land a young C. If The wild are moving Rossi for cap space, will they deal him for the 13th pick and a B prospect? McLeod from buffalo? Mctavish may be a pipe dream.

I just can't help but feel like after the Borgen extension and Lindgren trade that if there was a time to try Schneider on the right side it was then. Instead he stays buried back there. Couple that with the credible rumor a young roster player was offered in a deal for Peterka (with Buffalo's overt need for a RD) and I think Schneider is on his way out.

I think Soucy moves down to that 3rd LD or RD side, and we bring in a veteran on the left. Brian Dumoulin is a name I saw floated that makes sense (regardless of whether or not he is good enough).

Jones still feels like a casualty. He got his run, he isn't that good. Drury also doesn't like him.

Miller - Fox
Dumo - Borgen

Fortescue is a year away but he seems on track. Laba is interesting to try to crack the roster. Emery is 2 years away minimum before having a shot. Robertson seems meh, but I honestly liked him more than Jones.

The 13th pick & B prospect isn’t getting Rossi

Laba is a forward. Do you mean someone else?

I feel it boys were stealing 1OA tonight and drafting Hagens. Hagens-Perrault will take us on some deep runs but come up short.

10 years from now Hagens will have a kid and turn vegan and Perrault will throw someones mouth piece before fading into oblivion.

They didn't like that people were streaming instead of using cable, so these animals are trying to make it so that you have to use both.
It’s so stupid, I can stream TNT games on MAX but same league doesn’t let me stream games on ESPN+, what dingus agreed to that deal?
Watch games all year then go f*** yourself when playoffs come, GENIUS!

I would actually be kind of mad if we took Hagens 1OA.

Why would we draft the 5OA at #1? You take Schaefer or Misa at #1. I guess it's supposed to be a joke but I'm not sure what part I'm supposed to laugh at.

If we somehow miraculously win the lotto its Schaefer.

BPA and the organization's biggest need

Yup.

I wouldn’t be mad at Misa if they decided to go that route either. A ton of people are going to be surprised pikachus when they realize that he isn’t really much worse than McKenna (and some parts of his game translate better.)

Schaefer has been my guy though. Dude is an electric factory.

This is a fun stat LMAO

Does stuff:

Miller
Panarin
Carrick
Kreider
Trocheck

Sometimes does stuff:

Cuylle

Does not do stuff:

Lafreniere
Zibanejad

I think most of that matches with my perception of players who are noticeable.
