Speculation: Roster Building Thread: Part XX (WTF are we going to do this Off-Season edition)

Absolutely incorrect. Part of that article was interviewing him before the Ducks played the Rangers in March. On March 28th. Hence the article.

“I’m not reading about myself every day in the newspaper, reading about my family. So that’s nice. Yeah, obviously just very different situations but I’ve enjoyed coming here and kind of – relaxing isn’t the right word, but kind of having the time to take a breath and enjoy where I’m at. Kind of have a little bit more of an appreciation of where we want to go.”
So he just brought that up out of the blue. No proceeding questions from the media relating to the Rangers. Got it thanks

1. Zib to the Wild for Hartman, Heidt and a 2026 3rd.
2. Kreider to the Avs for Colton and Behrens.
3. Sign Garikov
4. K. Miller (Moved to the Right) for Peterka
5. Perrault starts in the minors

Cuylle - Miller - Peterka
Panarin - Trocheck - Laff
Colton - Hartman - Othmann
Carrick - Edstrom - Rempe
Berard/Brodz/Parssinen

Garikov - Fox
Schneider - Borgen
Soucy - Vaak/UFA vet
UFA vet/Vaak
We're rolling five lines?

One problem there. Zib has a NMC and can't be waived. Kreider has a NTC and can be waived. Also if it were the same situation, 100% of GMs waive the 25 point player over the 60 point player.
"down the road at all" = buyout
also variables are not =
zib costs more, and his issues are mental, and able to put on LTIR = extremely difficult
only options are do not play, buyout
thus unloading him = mo profitable

Kreid it is physical, can be 111% relied on IF healed, and if still injured can be ltir

also zib is longer term

so no, diagree
but nice try, for a change, instead of empty ha ha's

In honor of May 4th did you guys know Will Cuylle is a huge Star Wars fan? His favorite movie is Revenge Of The Sith. Just saw him in a draft video talking about it.

I don’t dislike this although I think at that point, just rip the bandaid off and trade Panarin. Hopefully for Brandt Clarke +. Problem solved for 3rd pairing RD as well in that scenario and it allows Berard to play

My biggest concern with Mika isn't that he makes mistakes. It's that he keeps making the SAME mistakes. Last year, I don't remember the game, but Mika was on the ice during 3-3 OT. The ref missed a call, and Mika turned his back on the play to complain to the ref about it. The other team scored the game winner while Mika had his back to the play. I was livid. Had I been the coach, Mika would have sat a game. I've seen him do the same thing (take himself out of the play to whine to the ref) over and over again since then.

That tells me one of two things. Either the team never made it an issue/told him this crap had to stop, or they did, and Mika keeps doing it anyway. If the former, they need to clear out the front office. If the latter, it's an indication that Mika might not be capable of changing/learning from his mistakes at this point in his career.
This is another example of a loser mentality that fans direct towards Zibanejad. Someone else is always responsible for my downfalls (refs, coach, front office, teammates etc etc). Now IMO this is correctable by the player either on his own or if someone points it out.

Yeah, the difference being that Tampa actually gave McD the heads-up and he could somewhat pick his destination. Where as Drury didn't tell Goodrow anything, and instead knew that he would be picked up by a team which Goodrow specifically had on his NTC.

Why are we still going over the same damn thing here? There is a reason, Drury's methods sparked a reaction from the players not just within the Rangers, but around the league. Now, this doesn't excuse the players for their poor play. They need to get over it, period. But it has been gone over multiple times that what Drury did with Goodrow, and to an extent with Trouba but especially with Goodrow, was pretty unorthodox and definitely not something that has happened in a similar manner around the league, even with GMs that have been "ruthless" in improving their team.
Hockey (unlike football for example) don’t have a mechanism to correct roster decisions to get out of a contract by simply rescinding or maybe restructuring it. Waiver is the only thing that deals with it “unilaterally”.

Otherwise I’m actually amazed that there’re pages and pages discussing the distinction between Goodrow and McD which are largely semantics. The only true difference is that McD was actually able to make a difference with his new team whereas Goodrow just proved that he was a dud and Drury was absolutely right about finding a way to get out from under that contract.

You can buyout a player’s contract although that has its own ramifications.

I agree about the pages and pages of discussion about Goodrow and Trouba. It really is going to be a long off-season if we're just going to keep going in circles with this topic. It's been beaten to death, reincarnated and killed again...let it go.

Minnesota sees top Russian prospect Danila Yurov as their 2c and Eriksson ek as their 1c

You sure about that ?
Plenty of cap space
Guerin team USA link
Zuc link
Kreider got 20 plus goals hurt and won’t cost alot
Yeah sure because they are going after Boeser and Brock Nelson. Yurov is taking over 2c and they will trade Rossi for another C or a top 2 / 4 young winger. Sp yes. They only have one open spot at winger

NTC Schmentc.

When Kreider gives his 15 team list you send him to whatever team will have him for a 7th and retention.

IDC what his accolades are. We have too many important kids and poison is poison. Kakko was sent packing. Send Laff packing and thats a horrible look after Lias and Krapsoft.

Sometimes, you take a Short Term L to Long Game a W.

Wild are likely moving Rossi to open up space to sign someone like Marner. Think they’d be looking for younger guys on ELCs or productive forwards on bargain contracts

Watching a team with a top 3 center and arguably the best defenseman in the game lose to a team without two of it's best players makes me smile thinking about all the geniuses with their GM hats on around here who think having those two things automatically leads to cups and dynasties.

Winning the Stanley Cup is incredibly hard.

Look at Ovechkin. All time goal leader. Hart trophies. Ross trophies. One cup in TWENTY years and he's as generational as it gets.
Both of the teams you mentioned have very recent Cups

Us? 1994... then 1940... but you knew that.
