I don't think Tocchet is a particularly good coach and wouldn't say that it would be a good hire
Tocchet is just another babysitter. He'll set a vibe and they might get a boost initially, and then they'll just tune him out. He's not bringing anything we haven't seen before.I don't think Tocchet is a particularly good coach and wouldn't say that it would be a good hire

Tbh, you're gonna be hard pressed to find a coach who's not that.
Silverfish was right: coaches have minimal to no impact in the NHL in a large sample size.Tbh, you're gonna be hard pressed to find a coach who's not that.
I don't know about that, he publicly called out Pettersson multiple times. He is a hard ass and I don't think he just accepts being tuned out like a Laviolette would, he'd hold their feet to the fire.Tocchet is just another babysitter. I think it's much more a personnel issue than a coaching one in the Canucks caseTocchet has his issues when it comes to the offensive side of the game. I haven't watched the Canucks, but happen to listen to a bunch of Vancouver media, and while the majority of people like Tocchet and want him back, there is also some valid criticism to his coaching.
I don't really care who the coach is, because there are bigger issues with this team other than whoever is standing behind the bench. Tocchet provides good soundbites at least so there's that.
Something, that we don't have here at Rangerland?I think it's much more a personnel issue than a coaching one in the Canucks case
It’s why moving out the vets matters. They’ve had 3 coaches (4 in Mika/Kreider’s case) where they inevitably backslid to an unsustainable brand of hockey. As @GoAwayPanarin put it, they don’t need to trim the branches, they need a new tree. Ultimately coaches aren’t much more than cheerleaders and babysitters for any team. Would Bednar/Cooper have the success they’ve had without MacKinnon and Kucherov? I doubt it greatly.
Pretty much what Laf said. A couple of them said they were disappointed with their play/seasons, no? Of course not Pan, Mika or Kreider... you know the veterans, the example setters.
Kandre had a weird response, like he was disappointed with his season but it was due to him not just mysteriously "being better." Not to pile on the kid but he seems a bit of a head case.
What did he say? Summary?Brian Boyle absolutely tee’d off on Mika on “up in the blue seats” today.
Basically shut up about what the GM is going to do and play center and score goals. What did he say? Summary?
Yeah, it really worked out, it's not like the Canucks locker room disintegrated and the team missed the playoffs after being a home seed last year or anything.I don't know about that, he publicly called out Pettersson multiple times. He is a hard ass and I don't think he just accepts being tuned out like a Laviolette would, he'd hold their feet to the fire.
Edit: He also has his teams play a much more up tempo game and is less of a dinosaur than Lavi. I think Tocchet is the best of both worlds

This has been a good listen.Basically shut up about what the GM is going to do and play center and score goals.
Go listen. It’s within the first 10.
LB said it was the most miserable team he’s ever covered.
