The thing with Fredric is that even if he's "only" a fourth line center/forward, he's a young forward who potentially brings more of the north-south, physical component that the team is looking for.

Obviously that's not enough to make him a main component, but there would be appeal there for the Rangers.

Do you think he would get picked in expansion 2 yrs from now ?

Is it weird id like a 1st plus a guy that’s exempt for Kreider ?

if we move kreider the guy i want coming back needs to be of the same ilk.

size, wheels and the ability to disrupt. that player fits in nicely with this rather bland roster but for lemme and tony and perhaps smith.

so, in other words, a more passionate chris kreider with some hockey IQ.

thats the player i would want in any kreider deal.

Fredric would make me smile. the kid can fight, he can disrupt, hes defensively smart and he plays center. he would add some spice. the way howden looks- very vanilla and lias- very blah, there would seem a need for a guy like trent to step in to that 3C role.

Any deal for Kreider to Boston the best piece is going to be the 1st

Frederic’s ceiling is not that high, Boston said this the day they drafted him

There's gotta be a 'McD/Miller-esque' trade out there involving Skjei/Kreids. Though, I'd take a nice young winger and a 1st back on that one. Hope Gorts is looking for something like that. LD pipeline looks good. Hopefully Rykov gets a look before the end of the season as well.

Tough to include Smith in a conversation about the lower lines as someone they should maybe not have signed. I doubt they expected him to be playing wing full time when he was signed. Maybe they shouldn't have signed him in general, but he was signed to play defense.

Fair, yet I'm just not so sure about their pro scouting. While they hit on say Zbad, they've missed on Smith, Shattenkirk, also could maybe include Names, Spooner in there yet those may have been requirements to take back in those deals more so than the Rangers wanted them.

And in some regards that seem to go for their post draft prospects scouting too, I'm not too sure about guys like Howden, Hajek, Rykov, Lindgren, not that I think they do not have time to improve, or that I dislike the ideas behind some of that, just seems like those were more prospects those teams were willing to include in deals than ones who should have been really sought after.

On the opposite side, Lemieux I think was more sought after, even league wide.

I do not know much about Frederic, reading the Boston fans opinions, (from where they seem to be talking honestly rather than in the trade subsection of HF) (paraphrasing) 3rd line upside, yet would not be surprised to see him as a 4th liner either. Also do not seem too sure whether he is a center or wing. Not the best skater, likely not a big point producer, but they like his energy, hitting, toughness, not to be that guy but I guess I will, sounds a lot like Glass possibly without the skating.

Frederic, IMO, is the type of prospect that's an additional add-in in a deal rather than the focal point of it. He's already D+4 and isn't really a good scorer on a top team in the AHL. I don't see the point of adding guys that are looking like they'll be replacement level players in the NHL.

Him being D+4 would put him at the same point as most of the prospects we've been acquiring. The question is whether or not they're looking for guys who are still a couple of years away, which was their M.O. when the rebuild started, or if they're looking for guys who are on the cusp of establishing themselves, like they did with Lemieux last year.

Frederic would more closely fit the latter. A lot of what we've heard suggests that they're hoping to target more of those players. So we're probably not looking at guys drafted in 2018, but guys drafted 2015-2017. Or if they've identified someone like Strome, Brassard, or to a lesser extent Pouliot, they might reach back to 2014 players.

I think you're going to find there's not a lot of that type of prospect, just looking at forwards, to choose from for many of these teams. Frederic is about it from Boston. Jost is about it from Colorado. Maybe Greer or Bowers...

You wonder how well some of these teams really fit as trading partners if we're looking for cuspy-types.

How ANYONE wants to keep Kreider for the term he is going to command is beyond me and I own his jersey. Hank is the other one I own.

His vanishing act is now more than just a blip. People think we can’t replace a player standing in front of a goalie on the PP?

i think we are all going to be disappointed if we set the bar too high for a kreider deal

fredric plus a pick seems like a reasonable return.

maybe more if he signs a deal to stay there or we add a sweetener

plus theres retention too

Hopefully...there isn’t another McD/Miller trade out there

Yeah I'm thinking the standard 1st rd pick and prospect. They may be able to get a better prospect if they get a 2nd instead. I'd rather the 1st tho

Kamanev is a guy from Colorado that interests me. Definitely a question mark. Injuries have kept him out of play the past couple of seasons but he does have talent.

Skjei has been good lately no?
