They told us the same thing about Nemeth
Soucy had actually been a good player before, Nemeth never was outside of being a chart merchant

Pretty sure Nemeth was universally disliked from both charts and video.Soucy had actually been a good player before, Nemeth never was outside of being a chart merchant
You trade a 3rd for an NHL body you like with 1 yr of term 100 times out of 100. It is *very* easy to get 3rd round picks if you want to. You could even trade a guy like Carson Soucy for one if you wanted.I still don’t mind the Soucy trade. He can bounce back next year and we essentially got him for Reilly Smith
Would hate investing the money into another winger for an org that lack centers.I back up the Brinks truck for Mitch Marner to be honest. High motor high skill guy is exactly what this team needs. We have skill guys with shot motors or we have a couple guys who can skate (Berard, Brodz) with a very limited skill set. Marner is both and those guys just don't come around often. He's also your Panarin replacement for the next 8 years
I think the locker room now understands that there is an actual boss above them and they won't get everything that they want.To be fair Drury hasn't been in this situation. He probably was privy to the conversations with Henrik that led to the buy-out.
Now if you think Kreider is no better than Goodrow or Trouba and deserves the same as them then ok. That's your opinion.
I think that if Drury treats Kreider the same as the both Goodrow and Trouba, then he'll be in deep poop with the locker room.
Florida is talking to Bennett this week about getting a deal done.Would hate investing the money into another winger for an org that lack centers.
If you can unload Panarin this summer then sign marner and a center. People keep acting like Bennett is going to just turn into a 4th liner in a year or two but he would be an ideal add here. Run Miller, Bennett, and Trocheck down the middle, get Panarin out of here and bring in marner. Would be a crazy shift. The defense would still need attention though.
The Miller trade was acquiring another player in his 30's with major term remaining at big dollars. Are the Rangers really a better team? 9-7-2. It's the overall philosophy of acquiring Miller. The Rangers have allocated $8M for the next five seasons for another 32 year old player. Miller is a best player in the trade. That's not the point.Chytil. Ugh.
But, from the cold-hearted GM perspective, this is EXACTLY why the JT trade was a complete no-brainer. JT has value, and will have value, for years.
Chytil was one hit away from the reality that happened yesterday. We all knew it despite everyone liking the guy.

no, imoIt's time to leave Mika at center and finally trust a young player in the rw spot. Our center depth is awful this way and we're rolling out 2 4th lines because of it leaving our top 6 easier to defend.
Lafreniere Miller Berard
Panarin Zibanejad Cuylle
Kreider Trochek Othmann
Brodz Carrick rempe
It's not ideal but the third line actually has some chance of impacting the scoresheet this way.

Missed that story, sorry to hearChytil. Ugh.

I think it will go down to the last day but we might squeeze in . It depends a lot on the health of Fox . The team played tight last night but lost . Either way...make it or not...we are in the hunt and may as well cheer them on and talk about changes in the off season and at least Othmann and Berard are playing as well as Rempe and Jones . The big question right now is Perreault . Is he being signed this year ? Or...does he suit up for another year at college hockey and sign elsewhere ?Are the Rangers making the playoffs? 72 points with 14 games remaining. The other teams have played one or two games less than the Rangers. After the Toronto game a few weeks ago, Steve Valiquette said the Rangers needed to go 17-6 in their last 23 games to make the playoffs. 96 points. The Rangers are 4-3-2 since the Toronto game. I was watching the Vegas-Detroit game on TNT yesterday. The panel were discussing the ECF playoff race. Rick Bowness felt the wild card teams needed 92-94 points this season. 91 points was the cutoff last season. Are the Rangers going 10-4 or 12-2 in their last 14 games? I was reading Brooks this morning. The Rangers are 9-9-2 in their last 20 games. Going .500 in their last 14 games is not enough. The Rangers haven't won three straight games since November. The Rangers are 9-7-2 since the JT Miller trade.
You never want to assume but it looks like Ottawa should make the playoffs. They are a crazy team. Lose five straight games. Win six straight games. Ottawa has two games in hand on the Rangers and have five more points. Ottawa is healthy. Cozens is a better player than Norris.
Big game tomorrow night. Ottawa at Montreal. Columbus hosts the Devils tonight.
Trocheck wont do any better between Kreider and Othmann than either Carrick or Brodzinski. Panarin’s able to carry him this season. If you want to strengthen the 3rd line it should be Zibanejad - not that I advocate for this move because it will immediately create a RW hole in top-6. no, imo
we should sell high if we can, but if not then Meeka to RW. He is not good enuf for C.
NO
no overpay to huge $$$$ long term contracts esp when likely to be full nmc
I go the same way w/him as I was willing w/Zib
Go 2-2.5 over the high end of what he gets long term, BUT NO nmc, and short term 2-ish yrs only
not good enuf
fine
buh-bye
IF IF IF he would
Missed that story, sorry to hear
How bad is/is it projected to be?
Do we want to throw away a 6th and a guy like Robertson, who did not get a fair shake and will not here, for Chytil, then LTIR him for as long as it takes?
Maybe he sits a yr/+ but returns again?
He sucks. Can't defend at all.May I ask why?

You suggested moving out Miller, and I understand his flaws, but he's just a better player than Provorov.
We have to stop paying top dollar for UFAs as though they will save our team. Outside of Messier, when has that ever worked? That was a different time. There was no salary cap, and Marner is no Messier.I back up the Brinks truck for Mitch Marner to be honest. High motor high skill guy is exactly what this team needs. Trade deadline is past you can't sell high on anyone. Mika hasn't had a great season but his legs are working now and looks a ton better. We aren't going anywhere with Carrick or Brodz as a 3c, absolutely no where.
