I still don’t mind the Soucy trade. He can bounce back next year and we essentially got him for Reilly Smith

You trade a 3rd for an NHL body you like with 1 yr of term 100 times out of 100. It is *very* easy to get 3rd round picks if you want to. You could even trade a guy like Carson Soucy for one if you wanted.

It's time to leave Mika at center and finally trust a young player in the rw spot. Our center depth is awful this way and we're rolling out 2 4th lines because of it leaving our top 6 easier to defend.

It's not ideal but the third line actually has some chance of impacting the scoresheet this way.

I back up the Brinks truck for Mitch Marner to be honest. High motor high skill guy is exactly what this team needs. We have skill guys with shot motors or we have a couple guys who can skate (Berard, Brodz) with a very limited skill set. Marner is both and those guys just don't come around often. He's also your Panarin replacement for the next 8 years

Would hate investing the money into another winger for an org that lack centers.

If you can unload Panarin this summer then sign marner and a center. People keep acting like Bennett is going to just turn into a 4th liner in a year or two but he would be an ideal add here. Run Miller, Bennett, and Trocheck down the middle, get Panarin out of here and bring in marner. Would be a crazy shift. The defense would still need attention though.

To be fair Drury hasn't been in this situation. He probably was privy to the conversations with Henrik that led to the buy-out.

Now if you think Kreider is no better than Goodrow or Trouba and deserves the same as them then ok. That's your opinion.

I think that if Drury treats Kreider the same as the both Goodrow and Trouba, then he'll be in deep poop with the locker room.

I think the locker room now understands that there is an actual boss above them and they won't get everything that they want.

I remember at the start of the year everyone was "ok" with brodz as the 13th forward. Now the team relies on him as an everyday player getting 13 mins a game. What a season it's been.

Also the soucy trade in general just tells me they had something else they were working on that didn't get done at the deadline. They aren't going into next season with this defense as is
