The Rangers need earth shattering trades.

The Sabres are looking for a RHD. Buffalo had interest in Lafreniere during the Eichel talks. Both of them are signed players. They will be in Buffalo for a while. Four more years of Fox. Seven more years of Lafreniere.

Fox and Lafreniere to Buffalo for Owen Power, JJ Peterka and the Sabres first round pick this June. The Rangers add a smaller asset. Mid-round pick.

Buffalo isn't trading Dahlin. Byram is another small D. Power it is. He is signed for six more seasons. The Rangers like Peterka and re-sign him to an extension as part of the trade. The Sabres don't need another high first round pick. There are some really good players available at the top end of this draft for the Rangers who really need to add high end young talent. The Sabres want to make a hockey trade.
I've never seen "It" with Owen Power. I just have never been a fan.

There are bad contracts and there are bad contracts.

Owen Power may be the worst contract out there ever. No thanks.

Byram's worst full season pts/60 is better than Schneiders best full season pts/60 so I can't say I see the comparison. You can say Byram has played with better forwards but how'd that work out for Lindgren playing with Fox and the top line offense? Not to mention Byram being an elite goal scorer in junior and Schneider not being good offensively at all.

They're both decent at driving offense but not good enough scorers to really justify their existence, and both of them are horrendous defensively.

That Byram scores more points doesn't move the needle for me at all. He doesn't score enough of them.

As promised, Heres a bit of Bowen Byram! Note that these are just basically goals against, there are plenty of chances against that haven't resulted in goals over the last few weeks but I don't know how to cut video/really have the time to do anything more in-depth.

tl;dr: He sucks. Tuffness folks would hate him, eye test people would hate him, analytics people would hate him.

Nurse answers back | NHL.com

- For a change, he actually has the player's stick but also, with no resistance, allows himself to get backed up and effectively allows the screen to be set. I get it, Podkolzin is a load but you at least HAVE to try to move him.

- The weak clear around the boards is nit picky as theres pressure there, but LOL at actually getting to where the traffic is and just... standing there. No engagement with either Panther even though he's within breathing distance of both. A+ effort in making it look like you made an effort when you actually didn't.

- This one speaks for itself.

- Tries to make a play to shake Guentzel on his backhand instead of just sending the puck up the wall the other way with authority and then decides to double up on Paul which leaves Guentzel wide open. Not lost on me that Power leaked out too far but that is a nothing burger if Byram doesn't go freelancing. I'm not even THAT bothered by the turnover because guy is trying to make a play, sometimes it doesn't work. It's the pouring of the gasoline on the fire he started that is the issue.

- If this were Lindgren we could point to a lack of athletic ability. Byram is a tremendous athlete who can really skate, why is he reaching and moving like he forgot to take the butt plug out before driving to the rink?

-Sick pass bro.

And maybe my favorite of the bunch.

- The Power misplay is a thing but... Where the f*** is Byram going?

Bonus:

This is who he is. Misfiring on a pass or turning the puck over every now and then isn't that big of a deal, those things happen.

The lack of engagement is a f***ing problem. Maybe he's afraid to get dinged again because he has the concussion history and okay, that would make sense but that doesn't make it okay.

All of these are from Feb 28th to yesterday. He's gotten his ass reamed when being paired with anyone who isn't Dahlin.

He will get a chance somewhere because he's got size (6'1" 205, someone called him small, he isn't small) he can skate and he can shoot really well.

The rest of his game is putrid. Don't want any part of him here.

The worst part of this season isn’t even the losses to Chicago Nashville and Buffalo it’s the inability to get any loser points during the 4-15-0 stretch. If they just went 4-11-4 they’d have 72 points and be right behind NJ for 3M. It’s ridiculous

They were barely within shouting distance in any of those games. The Flames and Hurricanes games are some of the few we could have gotten loser points in.

Then Kreider, Jones, Othmann and Schneider for Peterka and a 1st in this draft since it's the weaker one. No Byram. f*** Byram. Who even brought him up? He sucks. Sign Chychrun. Trade Panarin for Fiala.
Our former 1st round pick will belong to Pittsburgh unless we finish in the bottom 13.
If we do finish in the bottom 13 and don’t give that pick to the Penguins then they will receive our 2026 pick non-protected.

I love a good roast

I wonder if Drury would be targeting Boeser after trading Kreider, considering how Boeser and JT Miller were really effective together in Van and apparently good buddies as well.

For sure, I don't have an issue with getting Borgen. I think trading Kakko for him was lunacy/Drury ego trip.
On the contrary -- Trading KK was just another part of the trade/waive "any player who is not happy to be here" movement. It was obvious KK was not happy with his playing time or the persistent scratches. He sealed his fate when he finally questioned his coach's decisions publicly.

Like, for example, I think we could have kept Kakko, done the Smith trade, and then traded the pick we got from Vegas to Seattle for Borgen. I think that's better than what we ended up with. And they probably could have potentially could have gotten Soucy in the JT Miller trade if we found another asset for Vancouver if he was such a must have target. And I don't dislike Soucy, but the roster construction is super weird right now
some variant of this ^, maybe turns into a package, maybe we add Sykora, they Sea adds something
but some version of this

K'Miller, Othmann, 1st for Dahlin. Get it done Slats.
Not even remotely close

Buffalo probably doesn’t even consider trading Dahlin unless they’re getting Fox back. It would be silly to trade Fox, but that’s the type of organizational shakeup that *could* work for both teams. Fox and something else (Laf?) for Dahlin and Peterka?

It serves a two-fold purpose of making Gorton’s misses from 2017-19 look better by replenishing that age group in the core. Peterka’s new contract will make it somewhat salary matched. It’s a complete fantasy, but I could see the slim chance of it being something Drury does to leave it all on the table.
Dahlin at least >>> Fox

Bringing in Torts would have Zibs and Krieder begging to be traded lol I would watch alot more after game press conferences as well, I'm going to get flamed for this but I would bring in Messier. The story line alone would be worth it. If he won a cup as the coach it would be legendary.
