Kreider is not a buyout candidate because he will pretend he is injured so he can't be bought out.

Also your post makes no sense. If they retained 50% his cap hit for the Rangers would be 3.25M. If they bought him out his cap hit for the Rangers next year would be 3M and the year after 4M. So what "numbers" were you looking at?

I also doubt they would sign Jeff Chychrun since he retired 31 years ago.
If he is going to pretend that he is injured just should just LTIR on and use the cap space. Its what Vegas would do

Kreider should have been traded long ago, he has completely tanked his value with all his pouting and questionable injuries. I used to think he would bring a haul but now I suspect he’s toxic.
nonsense
there was zero basis to expect even going into first 2-ish months of the season that chris, a leading G scorer, was gonna get and remain injured

His injuries are not questionable. That is a false narrative you want to push for whatever rant you want to make.
Also no pouting, just dealing with reality of a situation that is holds him back from the high level of compete we have seen from him yearly

Let us see how well he heals
big picture pls micromanaging this game by game, shift by shift is not productive

we should reassess once he's truly ready

If Drury plans on going into next season with this defense plus Fox he’s a f***ing moron. Forwards need a revamp too but my goodness. Like I said, a #1 a #3/4 and 4 bottom pairing defenseman. That’s sad.

That’s what we have yep.

How anyone can have the balls to look at that and say “this is a team with a good chance to win a cup” is beyond me.

We don’t have Henrik any more. Time to stop pretending we do by trying to build a skyscraper out of legos

It needs…. *gasp*…..

A rebuild.

This team is trash. It has nothing. It never developed enough talent and now even the young pieces it had have been frittered away or misdeveloped. The pieces holding this garbage barge afloat were elite Panarin, rejuvenated Kreider, other old players.

The wheels are off now. They got too old and did not have the young pieces to pass the torch to. Shouldn’t have paid the goalie when you have no skaters to build around. This is a mess. There is literally nothing to build around. Your best asset is the 32 year old center you just traded for.

What an idiotic move that was.

Washington showed last offseason that successfully retooling a lineup like this one actually isn't impossible. Unfortunately, knowing Drury, he'll get rid of Kreider and Panarin, add the forward versions of Soucy and Borgen and call it a summer.

Washington's only dead weight (Oshie and Backstrom) LTIRetired, and their young guys have stepped up. They had a significant amount of cap space to make those moves in the summer.

I don't think it will be nearly as simple for the Rangers. I don't think we're winning anything with this core. We need a complete overhaul.

I think most of our dead weight is tradeable, but they're just going to replace it with more dead weight, because that's the only kind of player our GM likes.

In the 9 games since the break, we've been shorthanded 26 times. We've given up 3 goals and scored 4.

We've only scored 3 goals on the PP in 26 attempts.

Your 24-25 NYRs

We need a tear down and rebuild and Drury should not be here for it. Doesn’t know how to acquire or develop talented youth.

Won't happen until Dolan sells the team. That's on the owner, not the GM. If he were YOUR boss you'd also do what you were told or you'd go find a job elsewhere.

Which isn't to say that that is the right thing to do or not.

I look at teams like Vegas and Tampa Bay and neither have built shit through the draft. Tampa has had TWO, count 'em, TWO 1st round picks in the last 7 years (27 and 30 OA) and are competitive every year.

Vegas has ONE person on their team that they drafted in the first round. IN THEIR HISTORY.

This isn't solely about developing youth.

And, to be fair, Drury has been hamstrung by players he didn't draft, players he didn't sign, and NMC's that he didn't hand out. That's changing in the past two years. Will Dolan be patient enough to see if it'll all work? Probably not. And then we'll have an other reset with another GM with different ideas and another set of coaches.

Personally, I'd fire Laviolette and that's something I would've found incredulous to say after last season but this team hasn't played team defense, aside from a spurt here and there, the entire year and that's what wins. And why we aren't winning.

I’d only keep Muse and fire everyone else

Should have given Benoit Allaire 11.5M to stay. We could then have moved Igor and paid the next goalie Benoit Allaires old salary. 4D chess move. Same money going out, same or better results and no massive cap hit.

Tampa built a contender through the draft and now are just riding out the core.

This team can't draft an develop, we wasted a rebuild because the team is too stubborn to develop players properly or at the very least staff the team with people who can guide young players in the right direction. There's no such thing as bringing up a Othmann and knowing his strength and weaknesses and surrounding him with players to foster his success. They just move him on the 4th line and after a while will proclaim that he's not ready. I'm really disappointed with this team, they need to get their development going in the right direction, the amount of players we've wasted in the last 10 years is ridiculous, but they were all busts I guess, we're just unlucky lol. Perreault may as well stay in college and pick his spot, coming here will ruin him.
