Speculation: Roster Building Thread : Part XVIII ( TDL is March 7th)

Part of the bad guy GM thing was based on how the reporters were portraying things as they approached the players. You need to remember something that's really important here, the reporters have to deal with the players on a daily basis and maintain a wonderful relationship with the players in order for them to get the content that they need to do their jobs, and the GM is really only accessible a couple of times a year with this organization. He's not a guy that talks to the media every two weeks like some of the other guys. Are people like Vince their bread and butter is maintaining that wholesome relationship with the players and if you go back to a lot of the interviews and listen to how the questions were asked of the players and not just the player response what I'm saying might make more sense. Almost unilaterally the questions that were pitched to the players had a leading component trying to get them to dump all over Drury and meet him out to be the bad guy going back to the summer. I'm not saying that he's perfect by any stretch but I think that the reporting needs to be taken in context
It's funny you say this because I know for a fact Goodrow was willing to work with Drury to find a landing spot. But he never heard back from Drury until he was waived. I also know from people who played with Drury way back at Prep that he was always extremely arrogant and rubbed people the wrong way. All this mutiny seems so overblown, especially the stuff you said about the team wanting Laviolette fired.

Smith to Vegas for 3rd rounder and Brendan Brisson
disappointing, but only a bit, given...

I mean San Jose third is almost a 2nd
this ^...

we traded a 2027 2nd for him

I’d say a currently high 3rd round pick is better than a 2nd round pick that’s two years away so I dont think he lost on this at all
.. and this^.

Rangers have too much cap space. There has to be something. Especially if we are also moving kreider.
one can NEVER have too much cap

and God willing we are not moving Kreider

Kreider, Schneider + is a the start of a package for a LHD that can actually make a difference.

Chabot...
no x 2
1) I get we need more LD also, but RDs are scarcer
so I'm not down w/casually moving Schneid

2) Chabot is DEF not a target

zacha is only 27? feels like hes been around forever.
On decent deal but again why would the Bruins want to trade him and not lets say Coyle?
Kreider for Zacha 1 for 1?
no
pref to hold Kreider out atm
Zach sucks so no

There was definitely some f***ery with Jake Walman (Detroit PAID a 2nd to get rid of a perfectly good defensemen on a good contract??? to the Sharks?), the Rangers setting up for a defenseman after they got rid of Trouba (Detroit?), and Goodrow going to the Sharks.

We all knew Goodrow had to go and he was willing to work with the team, Drury screwed him. Players don't like that stuff, especially when the GM hands the same guy a contract with a NT clause. But this whole mutiny thing is laughable. Like an episode of the Real Housewives.

Not sure how credible but this would be a great add if the B's are looking to move money to sign Marchand

I actually wouldn’t mind that tbh

Cuylle JTM Zibs
Panarin Zacha/Tro Berard
Othmann Zacha/Tro Laffy

Not spectacular. But not too bad

If Boston is moving Zacha to open space and the Rangers retain 50% of Kreider that saves Boston 1.5M the next two years.

But it effectively costs the Rangers 8M for Zacha for the next 2 years.

Unless Boston is including two firsts or a 1st and top prospect this is silly with retention, for a half injured player nonetheless.

Zacha at 4.75 is great. Zacha at 8, not so much.

What about Zacha with Zadorov? Zadorovs best years were in Calgary where I think he was paired with Andersson. Might be wrong though.

Ok, Rantanen replaces Panarin scoring wise but who will replace Mikas 70+ points and playoff production for the same cap hit?
problem is very likely that 70 points will be declining and he is only at the beginning of a long contract.
I hope i am wrong. Not to mention the style of game he plays is not what the identity of this team is striving for and that is only gonna get worse as he ages.
