Great Dan Girardi impression in OTTrade Schneider now.
Great Dan Girardi impression in OTTrade Schneider now.
No chance this ever happensThey're gonna get surpassed by the WNBA within five years so they can see it how they wanna see it.
He’s a 3rd pairing defenseman with 3rd pair upside who probably has more value than that. Rangers should cash in. But they won’t.He's just not good at anything other than I guess a sneaky good shot.
He's a 3rd pairing guy because he's a 3rd pairing guy.
Isnt Bunting like five years younger? Not really comparable at all…There'd be
Bunting is having basically the same year Reilly Smith is, which everyone calls as being worth a 2nd round pick. And he has a year of term.
Is a 2nd for Novak not enough?
All that means is Reilly Smith won't get a 2nd, no?Isnt Bunting like five years younger? Not really comparable at all…
Which is crazy for a 7 million dollar player.Try to improve long term
Don’t think we actually need to make the playoffs to hand Vancouver (Pittsburgh) our pick but this is true. Want to get that over with.
Can we afford Rantanen without moving Panarin? He’s gonna want 14 mil.
I’m not sure what this means either. If you mean Zib, CK, Bread are entitled because they get all the PP time etc., one could say they deserved it by their play over the past 3 years. Many teams put their best players on special teams. I agree that the kids should have had more responsibility in retrospect, but it is what it is. The coach makes those decisions not the players, therefore calling the players entitled and country clubbers is quite odd. As for the carnage and drama, that is all on Drury, and no one else. It's not speculation for everyone. A level or entitlement had absolutely fostered with a segment of this roster. I posted about this prior to Thanksgiving and the impending roster carnage and drama. Not everything is speculation
Karpovtsev & Ulfie were a hell of a pair that season, especially in the playoffs.Ulfie vs Lindros battles! that series was epic! I knew we would lose but I was proud of that team they left it all out there.
stopTrade Schneider now.
x2Would anyone care if they traded Laf tomorrow? Guy is a zero
I don’t even need anything in return, I just want him out.Would anyone care if they traded Laf tomorrow? Guy is a zero
We were in the final 4 with Goodrow and he had 6 goals in the playoffs. We had a better record this year with Trouba than without him and he’s better than every Dman that played for us tonight except for Miller and Borgie. Maybe Schneider, though he’s somewhat disappointing. Some of the others may look decent, but while Trouba was playing against Syd Crosby, the others play against Bill Cosby. We are 7-5 with J.T. And haven’t won more than 2 games in a row. I don’t feel like we are closer to being a contender this year than last by any stretch of the imagination.Without Goodrow, Trouba and Lindgren, plus the addition of JT Miller, we are significantly closer to being a “contender” than any point last year. Was that not the whole point of the moves made this year?
That must have been before he joined the country club.I think Montreal fans would turn their city to rubble if they traded for Kreider. Most of them still think he intentionally hurt Price and ended a sure-bet Cup win for them.
Would be nice if this f***ing team could actually draft one of those guys. Maybe Gabe is finally the one?I would absolutely be open to moving Laf right now. If he were snake bitten or unlucky I may feel differently, but he isn’t showing anything that indicates he’s got a rebound coming next year, which means there is a very good chance his value will begin to decrease. Right now he’s still shortly enough removed from last season’s success and has the 1OA shine still after finally having a good season. Jettisoning him before other teams catch on that he was a product of a 120pt aeason from Artemi is probably the highest we’re going to be able to sell on him. If, for instance, Brady tells Ottawa he isn’t going to re-sign and wants to go to an American team, there isn’t a single argument that a single poster alive is capable of making that would stop me from ADDING to Laf (substantially, to be honest) to get that deal done. Let’s say Fox and Cuylle are just about the only things I wouldn’t be willing to include. Laf + KAM or Schneider? Laf + Otthman? Kreider (not happening with NTC, but still). Yes, I would trade Laf in a heart beat. Laf + Schneider - give me Pinto while we’re at it. Laf is symbolic of the country club problems we talk about, in my mind. I’ve never seen a player accomplish so little and look SO comfortable and content.
Games like tonight drive home to me how badly we still need top end talent. Panarin isn’t it. Even if he were playing like Panarin of last year, he’s not enough by himself. Winger Zib has been way better, but he’s not high end enough. Miller, Trochek, Cuylle are solid but they’re meat and potatoes. We need another garlic butter sauce to elevate the dish from ordinary to amazing. Otthman, Berard, Edstrom, Rempe, Carrick, Parsinen, Kreider if he stays, are all meat and potatoes. There’s gonna be enough of that up and down the lineup. We need another spice. A Nylander type. A Necas. Someone creative with high end vision who can identify and make the pass no one else can even see.
For clarity - my Tkachuk thoughts regarding Laf are not related to my thoughts about the overall makeup of the roster. Tkachuk has skill and would be a massive asset because he brings something we don’t have, but he would still fall into the meat and potatoes group. You’d have to move Laf, Kreider, Otthman (for example) and still add someone with some flavor to the group. Doesn’t have to even necessarily be a star. It could be a complimentary guy like Ehlers. Teravainen before he fell off. Those types.
Players love it out there, the team treats them well & they can golf every day from Sept-May. If Eichel leaves it's because he wants more money than Vegas is willing to give him, not because he's homesick for New England winters.Laffy will be one of the pieces that goes to Vegas when Eichel tells them he doesn't want to sign an extension with them this summer, and wants to come back east.
Two Bill Cosby references tonight were not what I expected at all. @machine @Boris ZubovWe were in the final 4 with Goodrow and he had 6 goals in the playoffs. Dude.. come on.Someone creative with high end vision who can identify and make the pass no one else can even see.
Because of the play in overtime? Absolutely not. We’re not seriously trading Schneider because of how he played an odd man rush in 3 on 3 OT are we? Some of you need a cigarette
I was thinking about Perreault while I was typing it up and he certainly seems like the archetype, but it remains to be seen how effective he’ll be at the NHL level. I would still say we need a forward, not in the Necas/Nylander tier, but from that mold of creative and dynamic. Ehlers is a great one, IMO. At the same time, we could also still use a Tkachuk archetype, but that’s more for the energy and attitude we need to foster. I would move Kreider and Laf because they are the two who least align with that attitude (where Miller, Trochek, Cuylle, Otthman fit that attitude). I’d be open to including Otthman in a deal because we only have so many wing spots and decisions will have to be made. I think removing the Laf element (complacent, not moving feet, just too comfortable) is important. I think adding a Tkachuk-ish element is desirable, but we can also see if Miller, Cuylle, etc. can foster it themselves if we purge the country club for the most part. I think adding a forward aside from Bread (who is either gone this summer or next anyway) is essential. As good as JT is, we can’t have an all meat and potatoes lineup. We need at least two dynamic playmaking types in the mix. Bread + Ehlers for next year, transitioning into Ehlers + Gabe the following, for example. Just one isn’t gonna cut it.Would be nice if this f***ing team could actually draft one of those guys. Maybe Gabe is finally the one?
