When the cap was lower and then stagnated...Goodrow was an older and worse player, and paid more.
The Olivier deal isn't BAD.

It destroys rivalries. I'm sick of everyone. The NHL loves this. Build rivalries
I don’t disagree with you but you and I are sitting on the couch and the NHL office sees it differently. It destroys rivalries. I'm sick of everyone.
I would jump up and down if you told me we don't have to play Washington for ten years. That's building a rivalry?
They're gonna get surpassed by the WNBA within five years so they can see it how they wanna see it.I don’t disagree with you but you and I are sitting on the couch and the NHL office sees it differently.
Trading first rounders outside the lottery is a market inefficiency that these contenders constantly exploit to much success.
I mentioned yesterday rosters that just don't pass the smell test on paper.

You can't tell me this is a contender. It's white rice with raw cauliflower.

I think those are the last two picks they have until 2045 LMAOhow do they still have 1st round picks...
yeah that's not happening. They're gonna get surpassed by the WNBA within five years so they can see it how they wanna see it.
He's the NHL's response to white Barry BondsEthen Frank is a character in a hockey game that did not get licensed by the NHLPA.
No one can convince me differently.
... He can f***ing scoot though.
I really like their D collectively and that drove the turn around for them this year but even that group has fallen off quite a bit. They're ripe to be beaten in the opening around and everyone is going to be surprised pikachu face about it.
Even if they make it beyond that, they aren't surviving round 2.
Jesus, two first, a 2nd, a 5th, and a 4th line NHL player.
DRURY MAKE THE TRADES NOW WHILE IT'S A SELLERS MARKET.
Once Friday hits, the deals will be worse and worse (for the sellers). Have to get out ahead. Which we did for Lindgren and Vesey, but he's gotta keep going.Chris Kreider for some teams entire draft class (and Reilly Smith for a 2nd)
Plenty of time for Drury to maneuver. Still 48 hours to go.
Funny thing is I think there's more sellers than serious buyers.Jesus, two 1sts, a 2nd, and a serviceable 4th line NHL player.

The NHL is stagnant. It doesn't appeal to anybody that's not already into it.yeah that's not happening.

He's insane if he becomes a buyer. Team isn't going anywhere in the playoffs. If we even make it.Drury is likely to be a buyer once the Reilly Smith deal happens. I want Kreider gone but it seems unlikely (reverse mush in effect)
You think about it as a negative whereas it's the opposite for NHL - it is by design that they wanted repeated series in earlier rounds to have rivalries to drive viewership (and then novelty would "take over" in Conference finals and SCF).Not only is the first round a bunch of re-runs, the absolute inevitability of the second round is even worse.
It would be Carolina or New Jersey again. That's already pretty much set barring an extreme shift in the standings.
And even if we caught Jersey, that's just Carolina in the first round and then Caps/Devils again in the second round.
