eh, i didn't like the trade for them at the time but Rantanen had the potential to be such a game changing player for them. it's really not the GM's fault he would rather live in f***ing Dallas than beautiful Raleigh, NC (never been there but it's gotta be better than Dallas right?).
If the dollars are the same, the deal in Dallas nets Rant an additional $5M over the course of the contract(tax savings).

Horrible take. I hate Dallas and I choose it every time over Raleigh - especially if Im multimillionaire professional athlete that doesnt have to live there in the summer with no kids

I am ok with nothing big. Lets see how the final months go and who really should go over the summer (albeit I think we already know).
Sucks we couldn't grab a pick or two with all the extra cap space we have

Peterka stuff is pretty strange in hindsight.

Adams getting Staios to up his offer with the Rangers as leverage, since Staios is still super butt hurt about NYR ‘tampering’?? Haha

Or probably Peterka’s agent trying to get his name out there and put in motion that he doesn’t want to be in Buffalo long term

You need to breakdown the tax against the teams you're playing. (I am not doing that). A straight up calculation on tax % is wrong.
It'll be complicated. But it's such an issue for Canadian clubs in particular that something must be done, even if it's a band aid. Not like millionaires care about seeing the returns of their higher taxes through public services the way regular people do. 4 million more dollars in tax over an 8 year period is hardly worth slightly better public schools when you can just send your kids to a boutique academy/

They need to find a way to take care of this in the next CBA.
No they dont. Sure it goves some teams a marginal advantsge, but we have an advantwge of being in Ny. Toronto always gets good players.

Really on a few teams get really screwed by this, and those are teams that have high tax and is not a good city to play in.

Also, if u really think about it, it could end up saving those teams from bad contracts sometimes.

Its a non issue in the name of “fairness” which can never be achieved
