I’d be absolutely shocked if Drury moved Panarin before the deadline. That’s a very complicated move. Do the Rangers want to pay Panarin 5.85M next year to play for another team?

Summer, not shocked at all.
It would be a hockey trade. They can't all be futures deal. The Rangers swap Panarin's $11,642,857 cap hit for another player making $7M-$8M who is signed for longer than just next season. Maybe not this week. Summer. The move needs to be made.

Yeah that could work. If it’s the right player, I’m on board. The only reason it may not happen is because he has 1 year left and then the Rangers get all that cap space. With a rising cap they may want the flexibility to go big game hunting in UFA when it expires

Geesh....imagine if we drafted Mike Bossy ? We even heavily scouted the Q league.....and we still missed despite two cracks at getting him...... and 12 other clubs messed up as well.....that is how the draft goes . Hindsight is a wonderful thing .
Heard about that miss many times. Doogs and Deblois had decent careers but Bossy was arguably the best pure goal scorer ever.

Keep selling and play the kids. I don’t care if they get the doors blown off in the first round if it’s experience for the kids.

If they keep playing the kids they’ll make the playoffs. Neither bottom 6 line is a cakewalk anymore. Takes pressure off the top guys.

We still need another defenseman this week.

32T. Nearly three hours.

A couple of Stanley Cup contenders are interested in Reilly Smith. Not Canadian teams.

We will see about Chris Kreider.

Artemi Panarin will become a bigger storyline. What's his future in NY? Contract expiring. EF was talking to someone about Panarin's contract on Sunday morning. Last season. Time does fly.

We are moving pieces now but we will not be quiet in the summer. They are not saying we had a bad year and we will see what happens next season with the same group.

Has Chris Drury talked to teams about Panarin? EF mentioned speaking to someone about Panarin which does lead you to believe the Rangers have talked to other clubs or other clubs are aware of Panarin's situation.

Smith has an 8 team no trade list.

Drury has won every trade he’s made during this rapid tear down. The difference between him and Gorton is that Drury could scout NHL players and Gorton couldn’t. Gotta trade smith and Kreider and get a defenseman.

Panarin can stay or go but it’s probably a summer move. He’ll be playing for a contract next year. My boy JT has rubbed off on Mika well. Maybe they can get Panarin to buy in the next year+. I’d def still trade him for a good offer.

would Florida do Panarin @ 50% for Lundell?

Or would it have to be a quantity over quality? Samoskevich, Luosterinnen, defensive prospect + 2027 1st

There's a looot of "time will tell" attached to the Kakko trade

they would not trade Lundell. The 2nd one is more realistic
50% retention is a big value. Maybe Bennett? if we could work out an extension before hand. They cut bait early like Colorado did with Rantanen? btw I love that Rantanen wont sign in Carolina.... lol.. They gave up Necas for a rental. How is a contract/deal not in place before that trade?

Two U.S. based Stanley Cup contenders in on Reilly Smith.

Capitals have two 2nd round picks in June. Boston and own pick. They have their 2026 second round pick.
Vegas has their 2nd round picks in 2025 and 2026.
Florida doesn't have a 2nd round pick in 2025. They have a 2nd round pick in 2026. Florida also has Chicago's 4th in 2026 from the Jones trade.
Thought of Dallas because Peter Deboar coached Smith in Vegas. Their forward group is crowded.

Recouping the 2026 picks for Smith would be better than 2025. Drury has restocked the draft pick pool in 2025 with the Kakko(3rd and 6th) and Lindgren trades(2nd and 4th).

50% retention. $1.875M. 2nd and 4th. Preferably in 2026. The Rangers don't have a 2nd and 4th in 26. The Rangers could look to flip a 2025 second round pick in another trade. A 2025 2nd round in the Smith deal could work in that case.

The first round pick in 2025 or 2026 in the Miller trade. Can Drury acquire a first round pick for Kreider replacing the Miller pick?

Drury loves them 2nd rounders.

I'd love to get a defenseman for Kreider. Bichsel type...

Not if you believe Kakko was going to amount to nothing here, which I do. Borgen is an excellent middle of the lineup player that we desperately needed.

Drury loves them 2nd rounders.

Hes def trading one or both for more help before Friday

Would they trade Ekblad? Would greatly help us right now and Id be fine with the futures and cap space if he walks. They just traded for Seth Jones

I feel like we could fleece Columbus in a Kreider trade

Listening to the Kings portion of 32T. Gabrikov is remaining in LA. They are discussing a 7 year contract. The Kings are confident the player will re-sign in LA.
Provorov or Chychrun?

Not a fan tbh and do not want to give him a contract

We need a LHD that can skate and isn’t a potato on offense to play with Fox.

As far as Kreider being moved---a lot might depend on how healthy he is and for what that's worth I'm not even sure what to make of his 'back' issue. No doubt it's for real but an acquiring team I'm sure would want to know it's getting better and it ain't going to go back out the first time he gets seriously jarred. The Rangers should have been really resting him at some point during the season. Allowing him to go off to the four nations tournament was idiotic AFAIC. He goes off---he practices and plays a couple games--he comes back and he's out with injury again. And yeah maybe you will be able to still trade him but we might have to take less because of the health concerns and again I wouldn't trade this player for cheap. I'd rather hold on to him until he's healthy again---hope he gets his game back (which I think there's a pretty good chance will happen) and then trade him.....even if that means moving him in the summer or next year. We're not strapped as far as the cap is concerned so there's not good enough reason to rush a deal and take just anything.

That's going to further block Clarke. Can we get him for Kreider or Panarin?

Yeah, pretty much starting with sleeping with George Harrison's wife and onward, he's been a POS.
George - possibly greatest slide player ever - and Chicago's Terry Kath are my highest favorite axemen

I just liked Cream since I was young. Just did a little reading. Yikes. That for sure changes things.
True, but him turning into a scumbag is a dif thing from his guitarsmith skill

Who cares about roster holes if you sell high on Carrick and get a cool 3rd rounder.
like Carrick, but yeah, w/you, would deal him if return high enuf, he's real productive, awesome value
think he goes for a 2nd
if not, we add a 5th or 6th to get a 2nd

talk yo shit Sid

who is having this guitar player conversation that I have on ignore? can someone summarize the argument?

obviously hendrix >>>>
1. there is no shit to discuss, Sherlock b'c isolated current blip on Meeka does not make up for what he did earlier w'o any just reason, and fact his def and effort continue to suck
whoop de doo
he's upgraded from severe ass eating to raw suckage
Zib's peeps should not brag here

2. (a) be close minded and have peeps on ignore at your own risk
(b) there is no argument
it is subjective opinion, multiple preferences are cool

I'm curious what Clapton has done over the past 8 years that have "ruined his legacy"?

I worked in the music biz for the best part of a decade about 20 years ago & while Clapton was always thought of as overrated, I'm unclear what has he done recently that wasn't well known previously?
Am time crushed atm but pls convo/pm me in a wk or so

Thats going to happen regardless.
We hope so. ? is less if he eventually waives and goes, but if we retain/how much [max ok] and what is the return? Let's just move forward here...

Mika has been good since the ball dropped. That's just the reality of things.
better, not good overall
his def / effort is still unacceptably horrible

yes
return of quality youth >>> self renting

Fine fallback, prefer we are 13oa or worse and keep our pick this yr

I feel like we could fleece Columbus in a Kreider trade

Provorov or Chychrun?
quote a song line:
"feelings
nothing more than feelings"

1. not smart to needlessly move assets discounted
including ck
2 columbus not interested in ck, imo

Matheson

NO x 2
CK too injured to = acceptable risk
bread is too perimeter for them, DAL is a better fit

tro, Berard, Jones, Robertson
for
Clarke, Dvorak, Helenius
