Rempe is more effective than people give him credit for. I said this when he was in Hartford, his size and strength as well as his playing style actually translates well to the NHL from the AHL. He doesn't really need to change much. Same goes for a guy like Edstrom and I'd venture a guess that Chmelar will be similar as well. These guys aren't there to make 1v1 moves and make perimeter plays. The areas of the ice they fight for in the AHL are the same areas they're fighting for in the NHL and in some instances, it's easier because there are more skill d-men at the NHL level than the AHL
I think he will. The NHL will want him to for the marketing. He’d be a fool not to.
He started the season on fire. I have no idea what happened to him but he was almost PPG at even strength.
I could see adding Kunin cause he’s overpaid and won’t cost much
Use the cap space
I believe Drury will trade for players with term 2 or 3 years if possible. I do like Kunin as a depth player
Kunin, Sturm are both solid bottom six guys. But honestly SJ would be dumb to move them. They have skill coming up through the system - affordable veteran role players should just stay and guide the kids while taking the dirty, unglamorous minutes. But maybe Grier and Drury share the same “talent” for roster building.
They are both UFAs and if they can get anything they will . Waivers will be busy or Just send Kalyiev back if he’s not in the plans
Yep, didn’t look at their UFA status and for some reason felt like they had term. Probably because the poster I responded to was talking about Drury not trading for rentals either. Under those circumstances though, I have no interest in trading for UFAs. We shouldn’t squeeze in with Fox out. It would be a waste of assets. Zero issue with perusing either player in free agency, but I see absolutely no justification for trading for expiring contracts this TDL.
I 100% agree with you but I find it funny you write this bc a few months ago when I was talking about lack of work ethic and laziness on this roster you unequivocally slammed the comment claiming there was no way to to measure work ethic/laziness and instead claimed that the team/players weren't lazy they were just bad players.Lafreniere is straight up lazy. He's improved on absolutely nothing. He made it to the league and put his feet up.
It's not my view that this unequivocally doesn't happen, and maybe it's on me if it comes across that way.I 100% agree with you but I find it funny you write this bc a few months ago when I was talking about lack of work ethic and laziness on this roster you unequivocally slammed the comment claiming there was no way to to measure work ethic/laziness and instead claimed that the team/players weren't lazy they were just bad players.
You're coming around finally, there are players on this team are indeed "lazy."
There are also bad players on this roster.
Both are true.
Your former comment was a blanket statement discrediting the concepts of laziness or bad work ethic with regards go players/teams. I don't need a novel justification on your shift. Just happy you are coming around...It's not my view that this unequivocally doesn't happen, and maybe it's on me if it comes across that way.
I just kinda think the team is a bit ass right now, I have for awhile, and that's just kind of priority #1 for me. I don't think work ethic makes a bad team good. I don't think this roster is good with it without it.
I do think it's been a player development issue which leads to the roster being less good. That's certainly a thing.
I also have some player by player disagreements on it. It's often a side effect that people suggest hard-working players that I think just stink because you have to hustle when you can't keep up. I also think talented guys that don't have to work their asses off just to exist sometimes get thrown under the bus too quickly.
And look, player by player, we all just have an opinion on each guy, but I do think that's an important distinction to be aware of.
I am open to it as a talking point and I'm trying to be less dismissive. I think we're all annoyed this season and beat up each other sometimes.
I've had conversations with @McRanger92, for example, where it's like "ok, I hear you, but maybe not him"' and then we can find a player we both like.
I have also made fun of certain players who fit this criteria, and that's just me having fun, but I understand why it was taken dismissively.
Will Borgen is a guy who would walk in front of a train (which I do appreciate) that I don't think it's a bad defenseman. We can all win. It's possible.
