Orlov would be a bad signing for us this off-season. Pass on that.
I was watching the Winnipeg TSN feed of the Jets-Nashville game. Their broadcast crew was mentioning the Jets don't have many Stanley Cup rings on their roster. There are times when that experience is needed in the playoffs. Reilly Smith has a Cup ring and played in numerous big games for Vegas.
Early this morning, I read EF's 32T column and he mentioned Winnipeg rounding out their roster at the deadline.
Does that defenseman exist for anyone? Send him to the Rangers. Lindgren is probably the best alternative. He competes hard and plays hard.
Smith and Lindgren to Winnipeg as a package deal. 1st round pick along with a few other picks. The Rangers can flip the pick for another signed player. Smith plays for another Cup.
Pierre LeBrun wrote this a sellers market. Drury should sell. Winnipeg picked Drury's pocket in the Copp deal. Time to turn the tables on the Jets. Winnipeg doesn't need retention. They will have $11.5M of space on 3/7. There was no retention in the Copp deal. The Rangers had crazy amounts of cap space in 2022. Drury could use his 3 retention spots on playing 3rd party broker or using a spot to retain on one of his players.

Wrong side of the age line and the Canes system overinflates stats. If he was 4 years younger, yeah. So that being said, sign the guy that is literally that already, Gavrikov. He the right age and the Rangers can afford him and the Rangers have a spot at the top he can step right into. When I watch Reilly Smith, the type of player I see is a guy who will eventually get traded and may end up being the best deadline pickup of this season because of his versatility and the eventual cost. Someone here called him the 'Honda Accord' of NHL players and I really like that analogy. He plays either wing. He's defensively responsible. He's not devoid of talent which allows for him to play literally on any line with any linemates. He's a VERY GOOD PKer. He's going to go somewhere and just 'fit' because he just does his thing which fits with every player he fits with.
Why do you say that? Playing with Schneider, I actually think they would make a very good pairing. Both mobile, bigger guys. Orlov has always been a bit of a 'rover' but that's something the team could use more of honestly. 3 years won't be a long term thing and he's only 33.

Half of Guenthers points are on the PP in which he is a focal point. They extended him, kicks in next year. Great AAV too. 7.14M
Meanwhile Lafren-big league chew is at 7.45 for a a single 57 point season in 5 years. Guenther is in his D+3 (when Laf had 39 points in 81 games) and has 43 in 47 games. He has 78 in his last 92 (not counting tonight).
For laf i would have just put him on PP1 and first line and kept playing him to give him confidence like normal #1 overall picks. No, you right. Didn't mean to imply that people are tossing them in the same boat, just saying that Lafreniere irritates me the most.
Like, with Kreider, if this is it, then this is it. You gave me 13 years. Fox is still good. Even Zibanejad was fun for a lot of years.
13 hasn't given me anything. I wouldn't change a thing about Kreider if I could wave a wand and reset his development, because I think the risk outweighs the reward given the career he's already had. He easily met expectations.
Lafreniere, I'd go back and have us never win that lottery. It saves me stress.
so, you're saying you're on the Chychrun train?I would take Gavrikov at his projected deal ahead of Byram on an identical deal.
I say this knowing full well that Gavrikov has probably at most 3 good years left in him.

I agree....get Othmann and Berard as many minutes as possible and Laf and Cuylee/Rempe.....those kids love the big minutes . Guys like Trocheck/Kreider/Zibs can sit a bit more . It's not like we are going to win a Cup let alone make the playoffs....so why not play them and let them make mistakes without losing half their minutes....that is how kids learn by playing under fire....and sometimes they will get burnt .Just make Smith a scratch if Miller is over his illness, he’s got no future here, and will hopefully be gone in a week for whatever crappy mid round pick he’s returning.
Unfortunately we dont have a good coach for kids. We need new young blood in the coaching department too.I agree....get Othmann and Berard as many minutes as possible and Laf and Cuylee/Rempe.....those kids love the big minutes . I wouldn’t mind Peca and/or Muse getting full control.Unfortunately we dont have a good coach for kids. We need new young blood in the coaching department too.
Just look to the dramatic difference in washington since lav was canned.
Its unfortunate that the last time we went young for coaching we ended up with a horrible NHL coach.
Im not sure if i want someone who is currently here to be moved up. Not sure how players would respond.I wouldn’t mind Peca and/or Muse getting full control.
Muse may be the better choice tactically/x’s and o’s speaking

What? Are you crazy? There are people here who have some really extreme views on this team. Blame everything on Lindgren and Mika. That's loony shits. Pointing out facts is not extreme. People here have their favorite players and they get mad when you point their flaws. The excuses for Fox are nauseating. It's never his fault. $9.5M player. He was been bad this season along with the rest of them. We can rip everyone else except for Fox. That's obsessive and a bit weird. Fox is supposed to be a big part of this team. His offensive production has dropped. The Rangers PP is now a middle of the pack unit. His D partner stinks. Blame everyone else.
We all listen to pods and comment on them. Never mention the pod criticizing Foxy. Maybe Adam needs to train harder in the summer. You're hating on him. The same things are said about Lafreniere and it becomes the narrative. Alexis is a lazy bum who spends him summer playing golf. Maybe he would work harder on his skating.
Stop making excuses for Fox and all of them. These are multi-million dollars players. They want the big bucks and responsibility comes with those paychecks.
LOL....he had good offensive tutors in Penguinville .....who are our Malkin/Crosby on this current crew ?Jake Guentzel is also undersized and, to me, is more akin to the type of player Perrault projects to be.
Half of Guenthers points are on the PP in which he is a focal point.
Laf is on Pp 2 and even when he is on PP1 it always revolves around Panarin, fox and zib.
No, Friedman reported on his podcast that teams were lining up to pay him $13MSays who, Igor's agent? Sorry, but $3M more than Hellebucyk with a full NMC that's fully buyout proof is not taking a discount.
And where do you think he got that info from? I'm not convinced rival GMs were feeding him that intel. No, Friedman reported on his podcast that teams were lining up to pay him $13M
It'd be nice to start fresh but I like Muse's mind. We really need a modern day tactician. Someone that works with the kids too. He has those attributes from what I recall. The players need a foundational understanding of what they're doing on the ice. We most definitely do not have that right now. The amount of hesitation/confusion/missed assignments is staggering.Im not sure if i want someone who is currently here to be moved up. Not sure how players would respond.
Plus we have the country club vet problem to deal with.
I think it would be best to just go fresh with new staff who take the reigns and doesnt care about what was done in the past.
I normally agree with RB in principle, but the team clearly signaled the fact that they’re not kick starting another rebuild and he has NOT been taking it well IMO.What?
The Norris used to be for the best defensemen. Its like much of todays media grew up playing video games and now really prioritize points over defense for defensemen. Would they have any idea how Rod Langway dominated games without scoring?Time will tell.
If you're talking about the year Karlsson scored 101 points, it goes directly to my Hall argument. Voters look at points & that's literally all they're concerned with. The award itself is flawed. The Norris should be awarded to the best overall defenseman, not the highest scoring one.
I've said for years if they want to celebrate the best offensive d-man every season, create a separate award. It's a crime that Bobby Orr doesn't have a trophy in his honor. Easy solution, the Orr trophy goes to the best offensive d-man & the Norris can actually be awarded to the best overall d-man. It makes too much sense, which is why it will NEVER happen.
I don't think he's looking for the Rangers to rebuild, but he's happy to trade Fox for a haul and replace him with a bigger dman.I normally agree with RB in principle, but the team clearly signaled the fact that they’re not kick starting another rebuild and he has NOT been taking it well IMO.
