From 2008-2012, Girardi was -21 at even strength. Staal was -11.

Oops.

This is Girardi, nothing earth shattering not -21 unless he was on the ice +25 shorthanded.

The people have spoken. I don't make the rules
This is the way.

For half the season the so-called "eye test" crowd was spamming the board with "Fox hasn't scored a goal since April or whatever it was." Statistics. Now the same people are questioning whether mph really gets at the fine details of skating speeds. Ok Socrates.

I'm sure they know what they're talking about.

Great then he puts up 45 points here next year at 13 million per.
Pass give me a decent top 4 dman or a decent young center instead (I know small chance of that happening).
No one asked for your ice cold plunge in reality. We're on a hockey forum, pasture of the fantasical!

Both were + players for their career. What's with the arbitrary 08-12 timeframe?

I always felt like it was shitty to dunk on Girardi and Staal, who were great Rangers and helped this team get the dark ages stink off us. Staal was probably destined for greatness until the concussions and eye injury.

Why did Kreider play over Kyle Connor if he's nursing a serious injury?
P
If only sports were that easy. We would not need scouts or coaches. We could just hire some teenagers living in their moms basements with a computer. :)
Well, every scout said Laf was the best player in his draft, and Kakko was the 2nd best player in his draft. You may have something there, teams should start looking in basements for there front office talent.

Not every scout said that. Detroits didn't. Did the guys in the basement that don't use their eyes say not to draft Laf number 1?

If I went past that, it would have been "but he was old then!"

I'm not here to argue about Girardi and Staal. Just extremely odd to say "why didn't bring that up with Girardi and Staal!!" when neither were particularly plus players and Fox absolutely blows them away in GF%.

And that's not a knock on them. They're just not on that level. It's comparing Stepan to Malkin.

Just an odd thing to bring up, and wrong.

It turns out the Rangers board is not the only crazy board on HF. The main boards asked if Bettman should pull an Adam Silver and trade Brady Tkachuk to a major market. Presumably this tournament turned Brady f***ing Tkachuk into Luka Doncic.

Can people shut the f*** up about Slavin already? His team had a 9.6% higher expected goal % when he was OFF the ice. That's tied for 151st in the league. Fox is 13% higher when he's ON the ice. That's good for 6th in the league. Mind you this is his "bad season". Somehow on a team that's probably the best in the league in the metric Slavin has an xG% that's below 50% and is 7.3% below Adam Fox in arguable his worst season in the NHL since his rookie year, playing with one of the worst defensemen in the league. Fox does get a lot more offensive zone starts but so does Makar, maybe Slavin would get more offensive starts if he was a better offensive player.

Quick analysis, I tried to control for OZone starts by using regression and using OZone starts as the independent (x variable) and the relative expected goals % as the dependent variable (y variable). I know this doesn't take into account quality of competition. But then again, I'm sure Slavin's D partner is better than Lindgren. Plus, Fox is a top pairing guy so he gets his share of tough competition.

As you can see Slavin underperforms his forecast and Fox overperforms his.

The Fox is the same player crowd because the charts say so sound more delusional than the Trump MAGA people. It's hard to have a discussion with them. He is not the same player. They scour every source looking for some chart or number which shows Fox's game hasn't declined.

Maybe the Aho knee to knee hit from two years ago is still bothering him.

Fox made the stupid statement about the championship game in the 4 Nations in his career and he was dreadful in that game. The Rangers have played some big games in the last 3-4 years. Those games don't count. No wonder why the Rangers never win.

The word is out on Fox. Everyone knows Fox is struggling big time.

Fox could be in trouble

Quinn Hughes, Zach Werenski, McAvoy, Brock Faber, Jaccob Slavin and Jake Sanderson are likely Olympic shoo-ins.

Werenski, a Norris Trophy contender this season, led the tournament in scoring with six points (all assists). McAvoy was a physical force until he got hurt, and Slavin and Faber were a tremendous shutdown pair. Sanderson, 22, is only on the rise.

Noah Hanifin was up and down, especially in the first half of the game against Finland and in the title game against Canada.

Fox, to be blunt, was not good. He’s had a tough year with the Rangers, as well, and the pace of play seemed too fast for the 2021 Norris Trophy winner. He was on for two goals in the final and could be expendable in the Olympics if Hughes and Werenski are the power-play guys.

Lies. Lies. Those aren't American troops in Baghdad. Those are friendly troops.

Fox's dumb pass led to the game tying goal by Bennett. He puts Miller in a bad spot on the ice. JT didn't want to get his clock cleaned. Marner fakes out Fox out of position and Bennett scores.

The U.S. is in control of the game 2-1. Fox makes a series of dumb plays. 2-2.

Even on the McDavid goal, Fox is not off the hook. All of these people quickly jumped to Fox's defense. Blame Matthews.

Fox skates behind the net going after Marner. Mistake. Fox should be net front presence.

All of these people have a vendetta because they are pointing out the truth about Fox.

Holey moley.

Eichel was shadowing McDavid the entire game. Icing. Line change. Can't get Eichel out there. Cooper puts McDavid out there. Who's taking Eichel's spot? Fox? No. Matthews.

Also, it's hockey with the 20 best players on the planet. Binnington bailed out his team on triple A grade A super duper chances 3 or 4 times before Canada won the game. Hellebuyck didn't. Goal isn't on him, however, as a great one once said:

"It's not about the saves you make. It's about the ones that you don't"

Yes, it's the people who have any evidence to support their views aside for mob-think and twitter not opinions that sound like the MAGA crowd.
